Strong and Moving!
A lot of fun.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
There is no doubt that this is a cheapie. Director Anthony Hickox admits that had little budget and time to do it right. But, sometimes cheapies can be worth watching. Sometimes. In this case, if he had more money he could have gotten Burt Lancaster instead of Robert Miano. Gen. James Mattoon Scott is the preeminent wacky military type that leads a revolution against the government. Miano just does have the passion.Maybe he could have gotten Arnold Schwarzenegger to lead the charge to stop the revolution and get his daughter back. Dolph Lundgren is OK, but when you want the best, you get Matrix.Yvonne Zima is no Alyssa Milano, but she did a good job as the daughter. I would keep her.So, we have Seven Days in May and Commando. I am sure we can come up with others that we used to make this film, but why bother. Just watch the originals.
I was going to offer serious comments on just how terrible this movie is, and how many ludicrous technical errors it contains. But I can't. It's just stupid, stupid, stupid. A more enjoyable time can be had by turning on the water in the kitchen sink and watching it trickle down the drain. Or see how many light bulbs you can hold in your mouth. Or pick your nose and look at it with a magnifying glass. Anything beats this movie. Anything.
This was one of the better Lungren movies that I have seen in quite some time. It seems that since Rocky, Masters, Universal Soldier, and Red Scorpian, Dolph has taken the more independent movie route, which I don't mind, but you don't always get a a well rounded film in the process. This was a little closer to being a well rounded film. It was a little more straight forward then most of his recent films. Despite some of the bad acting(his wife in the movie) the film had a nice flow, some plot twists, good action sequences and a good ending. I would recommend this film to true action movie buffs.
There is isn't one single saving grace in the entire ninety dire minutes. Guessed the good and bad guys within the first five minutes and was forced to fast forward the remaining eighty-five.I'm afraid there is nothing more to say. If at all possible avoid!
