It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

"Anomaly" is a 38-minute live action short film from 2014 that was written and directed by a whole lot of filmmakers and I will not list the names here. Feel free to check out the list yourself here on IMDb. This list as well as the cast list does not really include any big names, but that's not a problem as I have seen many films by unknown movie makers with an even lesser known cast that turned out nicely. This one here not so much. During its under 40 minutes runtime, it tries to combine personal fates and relationship with a journey into space, so this is also a bit of a cosmic adventure, but sadly this one here does not really manage to get audiences the stars from the sky as I found it a very mediocre and forgettable outcome eventually in terms of both writing and acting. Nothing stands out here I must say I found that the film had quite a few lengths despite its not too many minutes runtime. You can see the ambition at times and how the filmmakers wanted this to be a success, but maybe the talent just wasn't there or it is an example of too many cooks spoiling the broth. In any case, I give it a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
