This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
"Revenge of the virgins" balances somewhere between Western and Soft Porn (50's Soft Porn). The story it tells us is that of a group of strangers connected only by the will to earn their gold that have to suffer betrayal and the attacks of a native American tribe consisting of topless women since all men have already been killed. It is not hard to figure out, what this movie's purpose is. Showing nudity in movies surely wasn't a common feature those days so I guess this was by far the biggest selling point. Apart from that it is more or less a classic Western pic, not one of the best ones but at least it has some kind of a story to provide a legitimization for what is shown. With a little more focus on the story rather then the "naughty" aspect this could have been a solid, basic Western. As it is, with all its showing off and obvious racism, it is truly exchangeable.
REVENGE OF THE VIRGINS is an early skin flick that plays out as a cheapo western set in the great outdoors. The main characters are a group of gold prospectors including a grizzled old timer, a couple of youthful cowboys, and various others, all of whom are united in the fact that they're entirely boring and lacking in characterisation. They travel to an area said to contain substantial amounts of gold, but the problem for them is that said gold is protected by a murderous female Native American tribe. This is where the nudity comes in. The women all run around topless and show off their flesh for their occasional scenes. There's no more story to that and otherwise the tale has the mild kind of violence you'd see in a B-movie western from the era. The production values are cheap and there's zero suspense or really any reason to watch as the acting is uniformly bad too. The script was written by the inimitable Ed Wood, who really was happy to put his name to any old nonsense.
An old-timer leads an uneasy group of treasure seekers back to the gold-rich creek he'd discovered years before and the group ends up being systematically hunted by a fierce tribe of bare-breasted Indian women, led by a white (blonde) chief! The fact that the two parties never actually appear in the same frame and subtle differences in film stock, leads one to suspect that this was originally shot as a straight western and later spiced up with gratuitous, tacky footage for the grind-house crowd. However, it's still an interesting, hard-boiled little picture that breast-worshipers undoubtedly will be happy to behold. Some others might find it a bit too silly, though.Personally, I'd like to see the original version.
Even though the sight of naked female breast is now easily available through every nearly every possible medium, there are still certain cinema freaks like myself who're seeking out specific movies because they were the first to feature nudity. Go figure! "Revenge of the Virgins" is one of them notorious first films to feature exposed nipples and, even though it's the most common thing in the world by today's standards, the year 1959 was quite early to show breasts! This is a shlocky piece of 50's exploitation with topless Amazon women (supposedly Indian natives) and treasure hunting at a place called Gold Creek. Because of the boobs, this is called an early "nudie western", but fact remains that it's pretty boring to sit through; even at a running time of barely 52 minutes. Basically a simplistic retelling of "The Treasure of Sierra Madre", this film revolves on a bunch of greedy cowboys – and one of them brought his nagging wife along – going on an expedition to a reputedly gold infested creek. The topless natives follow them around inconspicuously and every once and a while they shoot an arrow straight in the center of one of the cowboys' back. Even in a less-than-one-hour lasting film, about three quarters of the running time is filler. There's, for example, an insufferably long ritual dance sequence with the blond girl sitting boring in the middle whilst the other black- haired girls dance stupidly around her. "Revenge of the Virgins" (besides, how can you prove they actually were virgins) is a dull and totally pointless film that is NOT worth watching, regardless of some nice trivia gimmicks.
