Such a frustrating disappointment
Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike
The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
I watched this film at the Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema today. An Italian doctor, a British nurse and an Italian journalist made two visits to the area north of Kabul in Afghanistan during 1999 and 2000. They try to establish a hospital in the area where fighting going on in the country. There was one man injured who lost his leg during the fight, he still want to fight to defend his land. Then there are the littlest victims of all are children, they want the war to stop so that can go back to school. The film would made you think about in a different way. Something worth the trouble of watching.
