It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

The film Contagion was entertaining, and nothing more. The effects were pathetic, everyone who had the virus had the same exact little dot that showed that they were "sick" just placed in a different location on the arm. The actors were pathetic as well, I've never even heard of or seen most of them before. The storyline was semi-believable to the extent that a disease causing agent could be delivered by a dart gun and it could mutate to become much more harmful. However had the disease gone airborne millions would have died within days, and there would be no bomb powerful enough to incinerate it. Despite flawed science, poor acting, and limited effects (though I must say the helicopter blowing up was awesome) the movie was entertaining, it did hold the audiences attention with some drama, some believability, and of course, some explosions.

This movie was not only badly written but the acting could not have been worse. The only actor who was any good was the 10 year old boy, who actually had feeling when he cried. The script was not the best either. Most of the lines were very cheesy. I had to laugh to keep from hurling. The story line was not all that great or accurate. The president did not have very good security either. How could they not see the barrel sticking out of a window across the street right in front of them? I would like to think that the people protecting the president are a little smarter then that. For dealing with a level 4 hot agent the doctor was not very intelligent seeing as she touched her mouth with a gloved hand after handling the dart that contained the virus. No real doctor would ever work with any level 4 agent with out the right protective gear. There was also not a very accurate representation of what the Ebola virus can do to a person. Now I don't know that much about Ebola but I do know that it does more to your body then just give you a bloody nose and a cough. A better representation would have made this movie better. Everyone looked too good through out the movie. Plus it jumped around a lot. There were too many holes in the plot. In one scene they were standing up talking and in the next scene they were dead. Now how about that ending. No movie would be complete without the terrorist falling off of the roof after being hit with a portable tunnel, the bomb being turned off with two seconds to spare, and a bit of romance. Everyone has time to flirt when there is a hot agent that is air borne around a hospital.

this is quite possibly the worst movie I've ever been forced to watch through in its entirety. there are 3 main reasons this move was so bad: first the improbability of important events and the plot holes, second the poor acting and bad script, and finally the terrible effects.well let me start out by saying that if the real president of the united states had the security that he had in this movie our country would probably go through three or four presidents a year. that being said there were many other obvious plot holes like the secret service and the army not being able to find a particular woman in a small hospital or a little kid being able to get in and out of a quarantine zone like it wasn't any body's business.the terrible acting in this film is only overcome by the horrible writing.. the matter-of-fact-ness of the the doctor in charge of finding a cure mixed with her never being in her lab doing any research made her character quite quaint and unbelievable. the presidents lack of concern and burly attitude was a stereotype played to the tee but completely unbelievably i had really problem identifying the the character playing the president as the president and not just some guy with a suit and red tie. but the worst character by far was the evil doctor lady aside from being the worst actor in the film her character didn't really make any sense and really had no direction or reason to exist she was completely unbelievable.finally the effects in this movie were awful from a helicopter being vaporised before the missile hit to the cheesy unrealistic field lab. if it involved a computer effect it looked bad. i have literally seen better effects in power-point presentations.in closing do not see this movie for any reason for your own mental health avoid this movie like the plague.

I will start off by saying that the idea for this movie could have been done a lot better if this movie wasn't so low budget. The camera shots were horrible, the dialogue was no good, and some parts of the plot were not very believable. The poor camera work made some scenes very un realistic. When a president walks out there should be a lot of people, and if you don't have the budget to do that don't have a wide shot from a high angle showing how few people you actually have. The dialogue was cheesy and cliché, and that always makes a movie kind of corny. On top of that; a president should have much more security than they had. Real presidents have men on buildings with big guns sitting on the rooves surrounding the place when he comes out of buildings. So therefore one one of them would have noticed a guy with a gun poking out of the window across the street. Overall just a poorly made movie.
