Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

If I could only give minus stars.Absolute mockery of boxing. A man with those legs, with that build will be dead meat before the first round. I know it is supposed to be a brain dead movie, I mean so-called comedy movie, but still ending with the hero winning the tournament is just too much.Except for 1 or 2 places where you get a bit of laughs there is not much rib tickling comedy either.Siva Karthikeyan's antics don't bring out any laughs at all, at least not for me.You will only love\like this if you are a school kid, a deadbeat Siva fan or a grown up numb nut

Maan Karate is one of the worst movies that i have seen in recent times. Thanks for the DVD, otherwise i would have died in the theater.Maan Karate is a story of care free guy who doesn't know about Boxing (what a pity, he didn't even heard of boxing) becomes a boxer to get his lover. This movie is around 3 hours of hell. The acting, story, screenplay everything is dud in the movie. I still didn't understand that how it stormed the box office.Siva Karthikeyan as usual do his style of carefree guy who roams in town. He has to change this kind of selection (if he seriously thinks about the acting), otherwise in a couple of years he will be out of the industry. He did somewhat justice to the role, but in some scenes he was too irritating.Hansika Motwani: She once again proved that acting is not her field. She is irritating from the introduction scene to the end.. She was really testing my patience. I don't know why she is getting so many movies despite of her poor acting skills and extremely poor dancing skills..Anirudh's songs were enjoyable but was actually speed breakers. I think the director used the songs to complete the 150 mins duration. Anirudh's background score was the major highlight of the movie. Songs picturization of the movie was also good in the movie. This is thirukumaran's failed attempt as a director.I would rate 1 on 5.Verdict: Poor show

Story - How a funny youth turns a professional boxer.Positives: Some comedy by Siva Karthikeyan, Colorful visual, decent songs by Anirudh, Release under big banner.Negatives: Except these few +ve all other seems to be huge -ve.Hansika used only for songs. Soori special appearance doesn't make any sense. Writers tried jump from Fantasy to Sports drama. But story can't withstand all this genre. If this type of movie released before 30yrs, definitely MK would make some good business. Even now this movie made a good opening because of the big banner and not for movie quality. If I know something about boxing then I could rate only 1 out of 10 star.Bottom-line: Please make some logic noise, we are not in 1980's.

Sivakarthikeyan's Maan karate has got nothing fresh in the story, romance, comedy and logic.Plot: It is the usual repeated cliché of Tamil cinema where the hero takes up sport for love and without struggle he wins at last. Here it's an over rated and excess melodrama. The movie has mixed the plot concepts of Rajini's "Baba" and Ravi's "M.Kumaran" and some portions from "Ethir neechal". At last giving as a mixed cinema which fails to engage or entertain. The comedy crackers what we expect from Siva was less in this movie. Towards the end it was dragging and boring. Cast: Siva as Peter has failed to meet his current over-hyped status and makes us feel like he was better in VPVS, Ethir Neechal and Marina. Hansika Motwani as Yazhini who has considerably lost weight and comes with her new looks as a doll and nothing much to act. The chemistry did not seem to be working as well. Other cast which includes Sathish and his friends were used in the story track considerably. Soori and Shayaji shinde were not used properly and were unnecessary inclusions. Vamsi Krishna as the usual opposite villain boxer looses the match after his years of practice to his opponent who does not even know boxing is sports. Overall it is a below average Rom-Com flick. Watch it if you are die hard Siva fan miss it otherwise.
