what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

I am a fan of suspense style thrillers like Hitchcock Movies and The Twilight Zone series. Here you have three college type kids trying to figure out what's going on with this crazy house. Why would someone just give the main character this old house? One is a scientific type, one character is the caring guyfriend who could be more but is he the trouble maker or friend, the other who lost her faith because of a genetic disorder and is angry at everyone. It's a good story and it keeps you wanting a little more just as it ends. There are good film techniques to help catch that bullet that grazed someone's arm and it was just nice not to see a whole bunch of gore.

This movie appears as if it was made as a junior film project. I just watched this movie in a mixed age group, and everyone disliked it immensely - hate is a strong word. This movie had a bit of Jesuspower in it, we questioned if it was made by a church. The acting is terrible. It's as if the casting department, if it existed, asked four random people to star in the movie. There's one scene that involves a black woman and a "black" child. We rewound the DVD and took a second look, and all concluded that the child is Indian. Passing off an Indian child as black is strange in context. Also, we think the male lead is wearing women's jeans.

"The Haunting Of Marsten Manor" is an enjoyable movie. I saw this film at a film festival and again when it came to theaters. It's a film people of all ages will enjoy. It's a supernatural thriller with redeeming values. It has a lot of twists and turns I didn't expect, that I enjoyed a lot. I got chills many times during the movie! The 3 main actors did a great job as well as the ghost (Julie Sapp) and the soldier (C. Thomas Howell). C.Thomas Howell adds a lot to the film. I've loved him since "The Outsiders"!I think the writers are talented and are a great duo. This is actually the first film for the filmmakers. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of their films. You leave the movie feeling happy that you saw it. Find it and see it!

Saw this movie at a film festival in Orem, Utah. Heard the budget was rather low, and the story, quality, and concept -- with redeeming message for a horror film -- blew me away. Make sure you rent this one for a scary movie with a heart. The main leads are all actors on the rise. They did a great job portraying the emotions involved in the story. One of the supporting actors, Julie Sapp, was convincing as the main "ghost" in the story. She was downright scary! She apparently also was a co-writer, co-director-, co-composer, co-everything on this film with her talented husband, Dave Sapp.Imagine what will happen the next time this duo gets more of a budget and makes their next film!
