Made in Hollywood
A breathtaking investigation into blockbusters, a film genre that enjoys worldwide success yet keeps its secret weapon well hidden backstage in Hollywood. The blockbuster appeals to a very wide audience, from 7 to 77 years and from Paris to Beijing. These films, which have boosted the film industry, started out with "Jaws" and "Star Wars" and are still prospering with Avatar or Alice in Wonderland. To succeed, the films must meet a few precise criteria, one of them being their cost - at 100 million dollars minimum. But in Hollywood, the films' ingredients are a well-kept secret; perhaps for fear of discovering that the studios' house rules are not as rosy as in certain fruitful happy endings? The pressure and the stakes are colossal. This fascinating documentary reviews the numerous professions affiliated with the blockbuster, via interviews with producers of the major studios (Walt Disney Studio, 20th Century Fox...)...

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

Sally kirkland is the only reason to watch this film... andrew stevens does his usual mug up as a psycho and loser .... somebody must like him because he makes a living at it ... the woman stalking part is quite believable ... its almost his trade mark... i won't mention the other pervs in the film because they are well known too

This is yet another David Z Priory film with a pervy bent (not unwelcome) involving a film within a film, an aging actress who don't want to do nude scenes (in the film within the film, but luckily not the film we're watching as we're treated to invisible banjo playing), her body double (also gets naked) and the possibly scheming lying fanny rat who may be fending off a killer or may be just full of roid rage.Oh, Richard Lynch is in this one as well as the cop who doesn't believe a word the fanny rat says. And that guy out of Tenebrae is in it too, so that's good. Many, many twists and turns in this one, loads of flesh, surprise reveals - once again I'm wondering why Prior's labelled as a 'bad' director. This costs about 4 pence now. I honestly picked up a load of Prior films for about 30 pence.Di-di-di-di (pats arse like Asda advert)

Back in the early 90s, there was a whole genre of erotic thrillers that has disappeared now. This is a solid entry, featuring Andrew Stevens, who would go on to direct a number of this type of picture, as a Hollywood ne'er do well, living with ageing movie star, Sally Kirkland, about to make a comeback in a movie featuring Stevens. Rose is brought in as a body double as Kirkland's character would never strip for a film. Luckily, Kirkland herself has no such restriction, and gives us a lurid masturbation scene that is a highlight. The plot involves shady dealings, suspicious characters and gunplay, further complicated by a clever conceit of slipping in scenes from the movie within the movie, which appears to have a similar plot to the actual movie. The cast give it their all, to an incessant synth score and brightly colored costumes and sets. All in all, it's a fun ride.

Aging sex kitten Monica Martel (Sally Kirkland) is having a tough time. Her boyfriend, gigolo Eric (Andrew Stevens) is messing around with her young body double, her career is on the skids, her "comeback" movie is not going well, and, oh yeah, someone wants her dead. Bad acting, bad cinematography and the same "ka-ching" song throughout the film makes...a fun flick? Oh yes. High drama and campy acting makes for a good "bad movie we love." One of the many "erotic thrillers" actor/producer Andrew Stevens put out in the late 80's and early 90's.
