Trailer Synopsis Cast

In March 2011 Japan was beset by a huge earthquake, a monstrous tsunami and the subsequent meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear plant. In the autumn of 2011, despite advice to the contrary, Aerosmith brought their Back On The Road tour to Japan, a country with which they'd always had a special relationship. The Japanese fans came out in their droves and Aerosmith responded with some of the finest gigs of their distinguished career. This film follows the band on that tour combining full length live tracks with behind the scenes footage which is at times touching and emotional and at others humorous and insightful. More than anything else it demonstrates the Japanese fans love affair with Aerosmith and their music.

The Best of the Blues Brothers
Writer Tom Davis hosts a Blues Brothers retrospective that tells the whole truth about the legendary band's early days and righteous ways. The Blues Brothers were an unforgettable part of Saturday Night Live's golden era, making their musical debut in bee costumes singing "I'm a King Bee," and becoming an overnight sensation. Switching to hats and shades inspired by John Lee Hooker, they combined classic Chicago Blues with Stax-Volt R&B to create a sound all their own. Their first album, Briefcase Full of Blues, went double-platinum and led quickly to their hit movie and milestone soundtrack album. The rest is history, and it's all here in a music-filled, memory-blasting account of a band that will always be on a mission from God.

Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all died at the age of 27 between 1969 and 1971. At the time, the coincidence gave rise to some comment, but it was not until the death of Kurt Cobain, about two and a half decades later, that the idea of a "27 Club" began to catch on in public perception, reignited with the death of Amy Winehouse in 2011. Through interviews with people who knew them, such as music stars, critics, medical experts and unseen footage, the lives, music, and artistry of those who died at 27 are investigated with a bid to find answers.

Rock for the Rising Sun (2013)*** 1/2 (out of 4) Highly entertaining documentary/concert film takes place shortly after the tragic tsunami that struck Japan. Months later Aerosmith went on a tour of the country and we follow them along as they tour the various cities during the day and rock the arenas by night. I've seen Aerosmith nearly a dozen times over the past decade and to say their recent shows have been "different" would be an understatement. If you're familiar with their message boards then you're going to notice quite a few negative posts about setlists, missed shows and various other issues but ROCK FOR THE RISING SUN is a winner no matter what you think. There's a great mixture of concert footage plus just behind-the-scenes stuff as the band members walk around the cities before the shows and there's also some great stuff dealing with the band backstage as they talk about setlists and other items. I think fans of the band are really going to enjoy these behind-the-scenes stuff as one really gets to see what it's like just minutes before they hit the stage. As for the concert footage, it's all shot extremely well and we're given a great setlist as well. Favorites like "Walk This Way," "Love in an Elevator," "Livin' on the Edge," "Last Child" and "Sweet Emotion" are all here sounding wonderful. The real joy comes from some lesser played tracks like "Hangman Jury," "No More No More," "Movin' Out" and "S.O.S. (Too Bad)." These songs here make the entire thing worth sitting through. Fans of the band will certainly enjoy this one even with the shorter than normal running time.
