Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
I must admit that I was more than intrigued by the synopsis for this movie, especially since it sounded like a horror take on the "Groundhog Day" thing. However, I just gave up on "Salvage" not even 30 minutes into the movie. Why? Because nothing, and I do mean nothing had happened by then. It was a snoozefest of epic proportions. And I had no desire to keep wasting my time on the movie. If a movie doesn't sink its hooks in pretty early on, then there is just no sense is keep watching it.From what I saw, that "Salvage" didn't really offer anything worthwhile or interesting to the horror / thriller genre. And the acting that I witnessed wasn't particularly outstanding either. As for the special effects, well I saw none. So I can't really tell you how they are in the movie. I guess you will just have to suffer through more than I managed to in order to experience the special effects.I have no intentions of returning to finish "Salvage" because there was nothing that appealed to me here at all.I am rating "Salvage" two out of ten stars, solely because it did have some adequate production value to it. Kind of an ironic movie title, when there was nothing to salvage here in terms of entertainment value or storyline.
Please read this review only after you have watched the movie. In Salvage we met Claire, a teen who lives in a small city with her mom and works as a clerk at a local supermarket. She begins to have dreams in witch she is brutally murdered by a stranger who came to pick her up from work one day instead of her boyfriend. Now she must find out why is this happening to her and discover who is the mysterious man that appears in her visions. As you can see I didn't talk too much about the topic because is so strange and is hard to discuss about it. In the beginning when I've seen Claire beaten up I thought that I will see what is going to happen next but the big surprise was that in reality nothing happened. Then these visions reappear and vanishes again and so on. I must say that the film is unique in it's own bizarre way. The horror scenes are few but scary and gory. This movie is going to be hard to understand even for a fan of mystery genre. I truly did not get it, after all was it about multiple personality? Or body transportation? Leaves you with a lot of questions in your mind. From a horror/thriller in the end got a bit SF but clearly the type of movie that you will not forget too soon.
i love picking up those horror collector sets out of the clearance bins. 5 bucks for 8 or 10 movies. majority of them are strictly B fare... as in bush! entertaining in their own right, but usually pretty forgettablebut... this one was a hidden little gem. well worth the watch. production values are decent; acting is good enough; but its the original story idea that i loved. kept me guessing most of the way through at least... its not a story idea that i've seen yet, and i've seen hundreds of these. seems like something someone would have done by nowhats off to the writers for coming up with something new
I found this movie on a DVD that I bought. It turned out to be a fantastic movie... one that I will regard highly for years to come. Lauren Currie Lewis did a fantastic job of creating a character who one cares about getting tortured over and over again. I liked her character and found myself flinching every time she got caught. I kept hoping that someone would intervene and stop this nightmare from happening to her. The film is low budget but the story and the main actress do a wonderful job in this psychological thriller. Though it does contain some gore, its not gratuitous which was a good thing for me. It was as appropriate as the gore that was depicted in the original Silence of the Lambs. Fortunately my pity for the poor girl was satisfied by the twist at the end... the movie has justice. I haven't seen a movie in this genre this good in a long time.
