Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

REBOUND is a slick little indie horror flick with a torture porn feel. The protagonist is a young woman who discovers - graphically - that her boyfriend is cheating on her, causing her to flee her life in order to begin a new one in another city. Unfortunately, en route she ends up being captured and held hostage by a regular psycho. This effort has pretty good production values and some gore, but it's also overly familiar and has little atmosphere to go along with the story.
If I could give this a ZERO I would!! ****SPOILERS AHEAD****YOU ARE WARNED**If you go back and read all (6) reviews, apart from my own, 5 of them are CLEARLY written by the same person. The wording, the pacing and the style of language is all too familiar to not be by the same person. The "praise" given to this movie by the other reviews is the REASON I am reviewing this movie. So I am writing this to give an actual, fair review from someone who isn't associated with movie. __I am into thrillers.. slow paced, horror movies are my favourite. So when Amazon Prime suggested this movie to me, I though- sure, why not? It starts off with the most UNBELIEVABLE poorly written, badly acted scene ever. It's worse then a B movie- because at least with B movies the actresses are good looking, and you know they are acting badly for fun. If I were "Claire's" boyfriend I would have cheated on her too.. she is boring, and I hate to say it, but really REALLY not good looking. I'm not saying that's a good reason to cheat on someone.. but we watch horror movies to be able to escape reality and look at pretty people.. it's nice to stare at gorgeous people for 2 hours, even if they end up being chopped up into tiny bits. "Claire" looks like a man in a wig, and that would be fine if at LEAST she could act- but nope.. she just sniffles for 2 hours and has fake "no tears" and somehow manages to pull stupid 101, by losing her phone within the first hour, doesn't buy a replacement, car breaks down..doesn't bother to call a car service.. just offends everyone in town, and happens to fall into the hands of a random serial killer? .. annnnd escapes with acid burned fingertips that disappear after about 2 minutes? Continuity is a huge fail in this movie.. which again, is forgivable in these type of movies if SOMEWHERE there could be some good acting, but Claire is seriously the worst "actor" I've ever seen, apart from the badly acted "sex scene" that replays and replays throughout the whole movie.. makes me wonder if anyone on that set has ever actually had sex before? I think they had an open-call for this movie and just hired the first 10 people to show up. Will not recommend this to anyone.. and will never re-watch.. I had to keep putting my hands over my eyes because of second-hand embarrassment. There are "indie" films..then there is this crap. 0/10
The premise behind Rebound is that a girl moving back home to Chicago after a breakup, only to find herself in danger. The writing is well thought out. The writer/director put a lot of work into creating an immersive experience for the audience. And that's what makes Rebound so good: you feel like you're right there with the main character experiencing what she experiences. It can be difficult for filmmakers to build up that tension and create an image on screen that resonates with the audience, but the makers of Rebound succeeded. Rebound delivers thrills from start to finish. I didn't leave my seat the entire time.
Rebound is a film about a woman whose life falls apart before her very eyes and she makes a choice to restart things by moving back to the mid-west. I'm a sucker for psychological thrillers so the trailer got my attention with it's pace and effectively moody score. If you're a fan of indie films you should give this one a watch. It's an exercise in watching for the dangers that surround you. We all know what it's like to have things go wrong, so the idea of running away from one horror only to find yourself right smack in the middle of another one is something I feel we can all connect with. I look forward to seeing what the filmmakers come up with for their next project.
