Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Honestly, this movie had such beautiful actors and actresses. They are actually, generally quite talented. There are a couple of exceptions like some bit parts, but generally pretty good. The BEST part of the movie was the camera work. Fantastic shots of Montreal, a mansion, Venice and more. Scenes that could have been done in simple, affordable locations were instead done with extravagant, gorgeous vistas. From the Italian countryside to a great view overlooking Montreal to lavish mansions and palaces. It lacked some details to fill some smaller plot holes but blockbuster films have faired far worse. In conclusion, this film is just sexy. More than just physically sexy, but in the views, the actresses, the intrigue of the characters. There is subtlety that carries itself through out the movie and motifs that fade away only to return to play a role later. All in all, the best erotic thriller I have yet viewed. As a thriller on its own, still pretty good.
Policeman searches for the murderer of his wife which happens to be a beautiful yet evil vampire lady. For some reason I think Conrad Pla had potential as an actor. I also liked Caroline Néron (yummy) in the role of the vampire. However, the eroticism that should have saved this movie from a horribly unoriginal script failed miserably. I mean, if you want to make a vampire movie, at least try to do something that hasn't been done yet.It was nice that the vampire sidekick was named Irina in the movie, which is a real Romanian name, even if she was an actress born in the Canary Islands, but then she says she is a companion of the vampire for two years, so what was the point? The way the cop is fooled by the vampire is also interesting as is the little twist that he didn't really care too much about his wife. However the whole Vatican priest thing at the end is plain dumb.I liked the absence of garlic and wooden sticks, but then again, any real attempt to vanquish the vampire is absent as well.Bottom line: it was a decent attempt, but let's face it, it failed.
This film opens with a, ehm, sexual bang. This beautiful woman awkwardly meets this other beautiful woman in this giant mansion. Beauty #2 seduces #1 and... well, the rest is eternity, so to speak. Problem is, beauty #1 happens to be this cop's wife. He is this renegade kind of guy, who plays by his own rules. Total stereotype. And, by the way this all takes place in Canada. And, also, this film has a very strong sexual theme to it. Lots of action, guy and girl and girl and girl. I would hesitate to call this film a vampire movie. And there is plenty of blood, and some suspense. And erotica. However, this movie is shot wonderfully. The imagery and cinematics are worth seeing. Lush color, symmetrical camera shots, and nothing else is missed. It is quite beautiful. Yet.. the rest is hokey in some aspects.
I've read some previous posts where people are speaking about "sensuality", "sexiness"... come on peeps! If you want lesbian sensuality - watch some of Andrew Blake films! You'll get an hour-and-a-half non-stop lesbian sexuality action without some pseudo-vampiric stuff! The movie is booooooring! I've stopped the playback on 40th minute and I am not sure if I want to continue watching it. It seems like the producers and directors were not sure what they wanted to film - a horror, a vampiric movie, a BSDM or lesbian hardcore. Therefore they've decided to take a little piece of each and mix them altogether. It's like mixing eggs, bacon, strawberry jam, mustard and chocolate sauce. I like only two things about this movie - camera work and the house where the policeman lives :) By the way - what's this "inspired by true events" thing?
