The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

This is one of the best movies i have seen.It plays like a grindhouse flick! Instead of a serious history lesson,we are treated with what seems to be Lapid's obsession with hot pinay women! The script moves fast you would probably wonder if events really happened that way but WHO CARES? This film references everything we Pinoys love in American movies like the opening scene which can only be described as a mini BRAVEHEART on the beach. Unlike contemporary American action heroes, our Filipino action heroes get everything in the movie and they never get hurt!!!! Watch Lapid cut a shield in half with one blow!!(Conan could never do that)Can anyone be truly fearless? Of course! One scene has lapid just standing on the seashore while cannons are destroying everything. What does he do?? He just stands there while his "bravest warriors" flee. This is just a typical pinoy movie and I guess that this was meant for foreign audiences. How else can you attract foreigners but through weird women bathing rituals that were unheard of in Philippine history? Aside from these wonderful scenes,Mayo entertains us with fictional scenes of rape(for the male audience),tribal punishment, and the wonderful variable to complete it all:SEX!Pinoy action movies don't get better than this and for you beginners just starting to discover our disorienting cinema this is the film to watch. You thought "Glory" was good alternative history? then you ain't seen nothing yet.
