As Good As It Gets
One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
I saw this film at the Los Angeles Film Festival. It is about young people in Iran who want to live free. Wow, totally different from what I was expecting.Iranian youth are crazy and vibrant.Film has a couple of story lines - about a women who wants to be a singer, a gay guy who is pressured to marry, a couple looking for a place to make out and a guy who is a big drinker who kinda goes off the deep end.The film was really enjoyable, people were into it and were laughing a lot in the funny parts. I saw the Q&A afterward - I can't believe this film was made in Iran! It makes it even more impressive! My only complaint is that it was sometimes hard to tell who is who, though you get over that in about fifteen minutes.
