Excellent but underrated film
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
I was 6 years then in 1990 , I still remember I was taken to a local theater in Juhu,Mumbai with my parents. I did not understand much that time. But when I saw it when I was big enough to understand stuff I immediately became a Sunny Deol Fan. This is my all time favorite Bollywood movie till date. This is a totally serious , no nonsense bad ass bollywood movie. I recommend all the youth to watch this movie at least once. You will feel the kick after watching this. The best scene in the movie is the ending scene in which Sunny choke holds Amrish Puri by his neck and at least 20 policemen try to untie his grip. The policemen untie and beat Sunny up but eventually he keeps his promise and shoots of Amrish Puri in front of everyone.
Unarguably, one of the best action packed movies of the Indian Cinema. Although, Sunny Deol is the lead character and protagonist but the wily charm exuded by Amrish Puri is enough of an accreditation for him to win the role of a reckless villain.Puran was a villain suited to the classic decades of 50s and 60s. However, the uncouth, violent and crooked portrayal provided by Amrish Puri is the sign of the X generation, those who love to watch non-stop violence packed with sensational background music and exciting story. The character sketch of a "Young angry man striving to fight an unjust society" initially boasted and pioneered by Amitab Bachan in the earlier Indian movies, reached its climax as Ajay of Ghayal portrayed by Sunny Deol. This is definitely a very interesting and thrilling action packed movie laden with brazen excitement, right upto the ending. If not all, many laurels for RajKumar Santoshi who undertook to translate the trends of the times with a good story, meaningful script as well as entertaining songs and action.
Ajay Mehra (Sunny Deol) plays a boxer in this film, however he went to New Deli to train and on his return to Mumbai he, however, found that his brother Ashok Mehra (Raj Babbar) is missing. He made many attempts to complain at police stations but all was unsuccessful. In all these attempts he, however, become frustrated and violence outburst. The film is quite interesting and one of the best films the 90's has to offer. Sunny Deol is quite entertaining. Raj Babbar also plays an interesting role in this film too. Meenakshi Sheshadri (Varsha) also plays a very interesting part in the film too. This film is so much interesting that I watch it almost over 10 times. The Director has added many spices to the story.
This movie shows one of the best performances Sunny Deol has ever given. He plays a young boxer who is caught in a web of betrayal , deceit, drugs and street fighting. He is accused of killing his brother and then vows revenge on the people responsible for his brother's death. The film has many notable starts such as Om puri,Amrish Puri,Meenakshi sheshadri & Raj babber. The action sequences are one of the best seen in any Indian film in the 90's.
