A different way of telling a story

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Daawat E Ishq is racy and delightful, a fast paced film with good acting, witty dialogues and beautiful cinematography. The songs are also catchy and melodious. The underlying larger theme is about the typical dowry demand in an Indian marriage, though I am not sure how much this message will actually permeate the masses. Nonetheless even if it emboldens some girls to stand up and say no to the dowry menace, it is good enough. Even forgetting the message, this film is entertainment in itself and well worth a watch.The chemistry between Parineeti and Aditya is real and palpable, greatly adding to their performance. Anupam Kher is after all Anupam Kher and his performance is always to high standards.I do not like to go into story lines because that is what viewers will see for themselves when they watch this movie.Suffice it to say that this is a very good movie, most enjoyable and a must watch .. at least on TV/VCD if not via a trip to the theatre.See and enjoy:)

This movie is worth a watch. Parineeti Chopra once again shows her skill in acting as the "girl next door" and Aditya Roy Kapoor shows his romantic side. Clean entertaining storyline fun to watch even with kids. The story conveys a social message with a twist. Love all the songs especially "Daawat-e-Ishq" followed by "Shayarana" and "Mannat". Food lovers can easily relate to the food heaven they will reach with the mention of kebabs and biryani and this movie has many a reference, no wonder the name Daawat-e-Ishq. The director, also the director of "Band Baaja Baaraat" executes this movie well once again. Can a middle class girl of today find true love or will the social "riwaaz" of our society crush her dreams ? Check out the movie and find out.

Anupam kher is also great. The chemistry between Kher and pareeneta, as father Daughter duo is amazing well portrayed. Its a movie with a good social message as well. And a great display of social chemistry in India. Overall its a good and fun movie to watch. Indian cusine is also portrayed so well, never really done in any other movie i know. Gulrez (parineeti) hails from Hyderabad and is a topper in sports and academics. But her marriage plans get spoiled as the prospective in-laws demand dowry. She decides to teach a lesson to dowry seeking grooms using the law. She along with her father (anupam kher) shift to Lucknow with new identity as rich people from Dubai. There Gulrez meets Taariq (aditya) a restaurant owner and also a rich man. Both get married and Gulrez uses the law and takes money from him and returns to Hyderabad. What happens from there forms the rest.The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was rich, the narrative was just okay. The dialogues were well written. The script was above average but the screenplay was average. The background score was melodious and songs were worth watching. Cinematography was efficient. Editing good. Costumes were well designed to suit the backdrop while the art department was colorful. Aditya Roy Kapur was excellent and he scores the brownie points. Parineeti Chopra looks sensuous and she did her bit as required. Anupam Kher was great as usual. Others had no scope.Coming up with an interesting idea is very hard in the this day in age where in bollywood masala films are raking in all the moolah. It is here where Dir.Habib Fasial should be applauded for making a film on dowry even though it is light hearted and there is scope for a even better film on this subject.The first half revolves around elements of comedy, some romance and interesting moments. The interval bang was neat but the second half gets into a con drama which was not excepted and it needed to be more convincing. Overall, the film is very enjoyable, its entertaining and it tackles a serious subject in a light manner, barring a of couple unexpected not so convincing twists its a enjoyable watch for the whole family.6.5/10
