This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

I have watched the first show and I'm HOOKED! What my question is.......... When is Amazon going to pick up the rest of the season or is there another place I can watch this show. I seen where it said it's starting in February of 2014 on Syfi and I am yet to see it. Can anyone help me out where the rest of the season(s) are at? I have looked on Netflix come back to amazon prime one a week to see if it's bed hooked up and even checked my Syfi channel on direct TV weekly.Any help I can get from any one I will be very grateful. I love theses types of movies and by the looks of the first movie this one is not going to be a let down. Many thanks to anyone who can answer this question for me in advance!

Loved it. The show picked up momentum to an intriguing story line. By the end, I was hooked on the characters and the hints at the unknown event that preceded "the after." It looks like Chris Carter has created a post apocalyptic show that uses realistic possibilities and mysterious coincidences, (like the X- files?) where the audience can enjoy speculating about clues and significances to find answers. If so, even better! Some of the characters are a bit more believable than others--and some are great. Would like to learn about their back stories. The horn got to be a bit annoying and it might have been nice to have music to pick up the pace at the beginning but after they got out of the garage, the action compensated. The concept is compelling. Looking forward to the series!

" The After " begins as a rather innocuous little drama, where we are watching a little vignette on a young actress who is trying her best to get to an audition. From there, she is thrown in to an urban drama, where there is a signature element which has been Chris Carter's signature: Unpredictability. Carter produced hard-hitting, classy stuff with the X-FILES, and MILLENNIUM.In both the X-FILES, and MILLENNIUM, there was always an anchor: the element of unpredictability. You must understand I see The AFTER, and all of Carter's projects not just through the eyes and heart of a sci-fi / fantasy / drama / dark noir fan, but, through the eyes of a writer - director. The casting is exquisite. And for that, I give Chris Carter all the good credit. Casting a PILOT, is CRUCIAL, and every real filmmaker knows this. Direction, and plot-point timing in this little sci- fi / fantasy drama, is unpredictable, and keeps us shocked, and on a roller - coaster ride. All film projects have problems....but I'm not going to do an post-mortem on a pilot and place those little problems in formaldehyde on display, as if they are our rewards for hanging through a loser project. It isn't a loser. This is an unusual piece of work for Chris Carter.IF you have not see the pilot for The AFTER...I suggest you see it. Make time and plenty of popcorn for this neat little pilot product. Carter's projects speak a different language, folks. I only hope that The AFTER...is a gift that keeps on giving. Thanks for your indulgence.Dr. H. E. "Buzzy" Sawyer, Jr. Manhattan, NY

There will always be reviews for and against great movies, the after may not be the greatest, but as far as entertainment goes, i felt it was very riveting, and it left me wanting more. my one fear is that some series starts with good plots and heavy tension, and then fizzle out and becomes boring. I have also noted that too many series are base on emotions that are not very realistic in certain situations, like stopping to take time to hug, kiss and dry tears while horror and death is going on around the characters. Someone or something is trying to kill you in the most brutal way, and anything that can be used as a weapon is either ignored or dropped and the person run. How realistic is that. Realism is taken out of acting to make room for false emotions in roles, why does every woman have to scream on seeing a body, that is presume dead.
