Brooklyn Castle
Brooklyn Castle
Brooklyn Castle is a documentary about I.S. 318 – an inner-city school where more than 65 percent of students are from homes with incomes below the federal poverty level – that also happens to have the best, most winning junior high school chess team in the country. (If Albert Einstein, who was rated 1800, were to join the team, he’d only rank fifth best.) Chess has transformed the school from one cited in 2003 as a “school in need of improvement” to one of New York City’s best. But a series of recession-driven public school budget cuts now threaten to undermine those hard-won successes.

This movie is good to watch. It has very well written screenplay (for the family movie) ... It covers various subjects that teens talk about everyday (not with parents)..like first love, sex, friends, dreams ...Acting is very good. Characters are very likable and it's very easy to identify with them. Songs in the movie are very catchy (80's pop). Being in my late 20's now I come back to this move from time to time to remember how it was to be a kid with head full of dreams .... I had a chance to buy this one several years ago on VHS. It would be wise to finally release it on DVD for the future generations ... If you have a chance to watch it or buy it ... go ahead and do it ,,, you will not regret it ...

I was in a video clearance center about 3 months ago, and found ZITS new on VHS, as well as some other golden oldies.Thius movie centers the lives of a group of 13 year old kids, who feel very sorry for there music Teacher, As she was mug'd, and beaten over the head, which caused her to be blind, And there is nothing she can do, as she doesn't have the money for her opp-oration. So the kids decide to earn the money themselves, and become Spy's and draw up a supposedly "secret aircraft" copied from a toy design. They end up selling the plans to the Russian's, and what follows is just one laugh after another. One thing that i was so surprised with this film is how the young kids talk, they talk about sex, masturbation, pubic hair and heaps more stuff you just don't expect from a movie made back in 1988, actually, you prob wouldn't find a film to date with that kind of full on talking from kid. 7 out of 10good young actors
