This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

It is another superb movie from Mohanlal, and Nedumudi Venu. It has a good story plot, songs, natural acting talent and excellent technical skill. The songs, especially 'Pramadavanam' have become all time favourites. It also shows the real broad minded views of Kerala Hindus, transcending religion. I am honored to be from a Christian and Hindu background and can understand the message the film tries to convey about broad mindedness, which is the guiding principle of Indian philosophy. We need more of such superb movies with substance. On a personal basis it an honor to a be a family friend of Mohanlal.Dr Prasad

When I was a child my favorite song was "Pramadhavanam", but I never got around to seeing the movie then, but now I finally see it and it totally blew my mind, soul and heart away ! Amazing plot set in the uniquely traditional royal Hindu family of Kerala with Matrilinear families and the related issues. Bring into that a hired Muslim assassin pretending to be a Brahmin singer and you have the ultimate plot. Set Mohanlal as the assassin and the Film is set to be a hit. Finally bring in the magic voice of Yesudas and voilà, this wonder is made !A must see for any Keralite and for anyone who understands Malayalam. If not, see it with subtitles although I doubt English ones are available or even if available will convey the same feel.I can't believe it just has one review but then again... mallu movies are not exactly the thing for IMDb users :P

This is the first time I am writing a commentary and only because I haven't seen any other comments. This is one of the BEST movies by Mohanlal. The casting is excellent, the acting is superb, and the music is extraordinary. The story is gripping from the start: It contains a blend of comedy, sadness, and fighting. The best part of the movie is the music duel between Mohanlal and Kaithapram (one of the greatest musicians from India). It is 8 minutes long and by the end, you will have tears in your eyes because of the songs beauty and exquisiteness.I don't want to give away any part of the story as it is worth watching. Each actor contributes his best to the movie and made it a hit in theaters.I hope you watch it soon and enjoy acting and singing as it was meant to be. :)
