Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Surprisingly incoherent and boring
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
This is a great, challenging film, based on integrity and good values. romantic. inspirational. truly made of what some people really aspire to have even if others don't. we need more movies like this. what a treasure, good for the whole family to share in. this will definately go into my must have movie collection. love love love.
We watch this film as a couple and watched it again with 3 of our younger children. The values connected to this film and the balance between what is good and not good is profound as it helped younger to understand how to get away from the easy choices and make valuable ones for themselves and others. The good thruth tha is inside us is often neglected in the name of friendship.
I watched Old Fashioned because I liked the title, expecting romance, comedy, and a happy ending. It was much more than that. I was amazed at how well made, honest, and uplifting it was. So, I recommended it to my grown daughter and she loved it, especially that it showed how good a relationship can be, even helping a couple to lose "baggage" from previous relationships. I have lost count of how many people I have recommended it to. It's a classic and a keeper.
It's not very often that we find a story that is full of charm and romance, while still remaining passionately chaste. It's a rather Old Fashioned notion to expect that from a film in this day and age but Rik Swartzwelder managed it quite confidently. The ideals and beliefs in this film may not be for everyone, in fact, many would choose to scoff it off. But I found OF to be raw and real enough to make us pause and ponder on its possibilities. The pace of the movie is a quiet stroll, with just the right measure of melodies and sceneries to accompany us. The landscape is breathtaking and cinematography, beautifully captured! There were brief instances where a scene or two seemed a tad contrived but not enough to impose on the overall flow of the film. The main characters are both credible and charming together. They easily convince you to invest in them and leave you curious about what their future holds. To me, that in itself says the movie accomplished its purpose. It persuaded me to take a slice of the story and characters back with me and left me feeling hopeful that it is possible to hold out for these Old Fashioned ideas. A delightful film!
