An exhilarating documentary film that celebrates the unsung hero of aviation - the local airport - by tracing the life, history, and struggles of an airport icon: Southern California's Van Nuys Airport. Featuring thrilling aerial photography and a sweeping original score, the film dispels common misconceptions and opposes criticism of General Aviation airports.

Fantastic!
The acting in this movie is really good.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
I stumbled upon this film on-line and literally fell in love with aviation almost as strongly as I fell in love with my wife. I have always been a fan of aviation but, this extraordinary film captures the emotions of flight unlike anyone has been able to convey before.The cinematography on the ground and especially in the air is outstanding, the editing is top notch and the score is on par with any of Hollywood's best. Bravo! I plan to watch this film over and over again.Congratulation Brian, generations will take to the skies because of your passion and outstanding skill displayed in this wonderful film.
Brian,I just wanted to let you know that I watched your video and words cannot describe the way it made me feel. I cried through most of the video. The footage, the interviews, the P-51, Bob Hoover, the Pitts...................., I could go on and on. You are a master at presentation. I hope you can continue to make this large contribution to General Aviation. I will end with this, the emotions I felt watching your video compare to my ride in a P-51(Slender Tender Tall) in January of 2006...................Sincerely, Mark
I just watched this film in HD at home today. There is NO better way to watch this film. The opening sequence showing the juxtaposition of historical vs current footage actually brought tears to my eyes. One Six Right brought the same emotions to me as when I flew myself to the Wright Brothers Memorial in North Carolina. The beauty and passion so many people feel about aviation is perfectly exemplified throughout the film. More than a documentary, 16 Right tells the story of general aviation in America today. There are protagonists (Van Nuys Airport), antagonists (Mayor Daley and his wife), and tragic heroes (Meigs Field in Chicago). All of that, and one thing I didn't notice right away... in a community where jargon is the modus operandi, I never heard ANY jargon. If you have never flown an airplane, visited an airport, or even watched AIRPLANE! you can still enjoy this film. 10 out of 10 for story, color, sound, and lots and lots of airplanes.
I have now been flying for 44 years; I was the kid sitting at the local flying field, trolling for rides when I was young. That love of flight has always been part of my being, but something that was very difficult to tell others exactly how I felt when I went aloft. From the classic Cub to the heavy iron of sophisticated airplanes, the thrill of flight is always there. One of my favorite airliners was always the DC-3, its sleek lines always beckoned me to the cockpit. Today, I revel in the scents of an airplane exhaust and the freshly-mown grass fields where airplanes truly belong. NOW, I can show this video to others and they can feel the love of flight, something that pilots everywhere can share. Thanks for making this video; we need more like this one.
