hyped garbage
A different way of telling a story
It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
There have been few other documentaries that better peel back the layers of the complexities and processes of how collaborative music works. Josh Garrels is a poet of the highest caliber, but he is also a man of deep understanding of the human condition. Whether it's through the performances on the island, his intimate interviews with his wife about their family, or his soul-searching thoughts on God and the significance of Christ in his art, The Sea In Between reminds us the importance of integrity of one's work, and how music is indeed one of the greatest gifts given to mankind. It's inspiring to know Garrels strives to use that gift well, with joy bursting through every note plucked, sung, or strummed.
