Trailer Synopsis Cast

Directed by UK-horror scene stalwart Calum Waddell and hosted by scream queen Debbie Rochon (Terror Firmer, Tromeo and Juliet) Scream Queens: Horror Heroines Exposed features, in a change of pace for horror documentaries, especially those focusing on females in the genre, an all-female line-up, discussing horror movies from their perspective – exploring the challenges of being an actress in a genre predominantly made by and for men, from how they came about to be defined as a “scream queen”, about the vagaries of the genre: nudity, violence, misogyny, etc., and about how they feel about the genre and the label

Real estate agent John Dante has a problem. He's stuck with a house he can't sell. Despite his best efforts, he can't seem to overcome the house's past and the macabre tales that precede it in this haunting anthology. In the first story, THE MORNING AFTER, a group of friends wake up from the party of a lifetime to find a nightmare in the form of the worst bug invasion any homeowner has ever seen. Then there's Freddie Cooper and his band, FREDDIE AND THE GOBLINS; a tale of how Freddie's band mates try to kick him out and get caught up in the young singer's growing psychosis. With his hopes of selling the house fading, John is horrified to hear the story of Robbie, a young veteran of the war in Iraq, who returns home to live with his father Brad in FATHER LAND. Something isn't right, though, as Robbie's dark secret slowly bubbles to the surface. As the house's dark past comes to life, John becomes weary and is convinced the house is cursed and unsellable.

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

Scream Queens: Horror Heroines Exposed (2014) *** (out of 4)Michelle Bauer, Danielle Harris, Adrienne King, Lynn Lowry, Sybil Danning, Linnea Quigley, Catriona MacColl, Cassandra Patterson, Caroline Munroe, Brinke Stevens, Patricia Tallman and Lisa Wilcox are just some of the ladies interviewed for this documentary, which talks everything dealing with being a Scream Queen. There have been several documentaries that cover what a Scream Queen is. Going back to the early 90s there were documentaries on the subject and there have been many more over the past ten years. That's a great thing because future generations will have documents with these ladies talking about their work and the films. This one here from Calum Waddell features many familiar faces as well as some new people who are discussing a wide range of topics. The actresses share their thoughts on many topics including how they got into the business, what they think of their fans, their thoughts on the violence in movies, the nudity that is often required, their legacy and some of the controversial moments where some feel the women are being exploited. These are several other topics are discussed and if you're a fan of the actresses or the films then you should enjoy all of it. There are some very good discussions with the actresses talking about their fears on the nudity or why they are brave about it and have no problems doing it.If you've seen any of the previous documentaries then you're obviously going to be hearing some of the same stories but as a fan of the genre I must admit that they are always entertaining and it's great getting to see so many familiar faces in one movie.
