Simply A Masterpiece
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
I was lost in the beginning. It was too slow getting to the main part of the story. Amazing lead actress. Not a lot of gore so for those of you that have a sensitive stomach you'll make it through to the end. A lot of dark scenes in this story. But a good ghost story shouldn't be all rainbows and unicorns. I never did see The Black Dahlia movie so I can't really compare or understand completely the plot. All I know is be afraid of ghosts because they will find a way to hurt you. Devanny made a great man-hating bitch. The ending was a bit predictable. Didn't keep me guessing. I'd consider this mild violence, although it did allow the audience to use their imagination on exactly what was being done. No overkill on the blood whatsoever. Horror isn't always just blood baths and body parts.
I had the privilege of viewing The Black Dahlia Haunting at the Stanley Event this weekend. This movie was not at all what I expected. It was so much better. The story telling kept you guessing as to what exactly was going on until it tied up all the loose ends at the end. The actors/actresses were great! Alexis Iacono captured that old Hollywood glamour as The Black Dahlia, while Devanny Pinn was great as the girl the caught up in something she had no idea about until the it was over. Ghost Hunters Britt Griffith was just plain creepy as Dr. Owen's and not someone I would ever want to meet in real life. I have met Britt so this was a very nice surprise and great show of his ability to play a creepy person in his first role and I look forward to seeing what he will be doing in his next. If you are looking for a good paranormal horror movie, THIS IS IT!!! I know I will be watching out for future Brandon Slagle projects.
I saw this movie last night at the Stanley Hotel and absolutely LOVED IT!!! The actors/actresses were amazing. Britt Griffith was CREEPY, but gave an awesome and VERY convincing performance!! Definitely 100% different than how he is in person and on the TV Show Ghost Hunters!!I loved the way the plot intermingled between the different characters and tied everything together. The scenes between Holly and the Black Dahlia was really cool. There was one disturbing scene, I think everyone in the viewing cringed (including the men).Cannot wait for this to be released to DVD so I can purchase it!!!!
I was able to see the preview of the Black Dalia Haunting recently and was impressed by the story line. When I first started watching, I was a bit confused by some of the characters and how they tied into the movie, but with every good horror flick, it is when it all comes together that you have your eureka moment! When I can figure out the story up until the ending from the beginning, it is predictable, but when it all just gels together suddenly...it makes the story intriguing! One scene that added a special character touch was a simple scene in the bathroom where the mirror was split and showed the person in both sides, which simply added a touch of Hitchcock, what I thought. Overall, the movie had some very creepy scenes. I enjoyed it!
