Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
I'm a Christian and enjoy Christian films. That said, this isn't particularly "Christian" (in a theological sense) and isn't a great "film." Way too many long sequences with dramatic music--for no real reason-overtake the film. Neither the Bible nor the Gospel are set as the primary catalyst for character change. The acting is okay, but not good or great. Cinematography leaves much to be desired with odd angles and lengthy focuses on characters.I don't want to be harsh, but at the time of my watching the movie, it had an IMDB rating of 7.2. That made me think it'd been decent-to-good. It was neither. I know Christian cinema has gotten better and still has a way to go, but there better films where you can get past mediocre acting and low-budget within the Christian genre (ie., Fireproof, Courageous, War Room)
If there is a little over an hour and a half of your life that you don't mind wasting, and never being able to get back, then go ahead and watch this movie. The acting is awful. There are no inspired moments.Bluntly, this may be the dumbest movie that I have ever watched, and I regret that I stuck with it until the end.
