The star of this movie is the cinematography! Every frame is perfectly arranged to create a wonderfully composed picture that relates to the subject of the action taking place. This was my first observation when I started watching this marvelous film. The story is easy - an agoraphobic recluse lets a man (the outside world) into her life. As she progresses to the point where she is willing to allow herself to relate to him and eventually leave her apartment is reflected in the very items and arrangement in each scene. There is a marvelous scene when the camera is pulled back and you can see the staged set. The divide between him and her cannot be more clearly stated and then the divide is crossed - her big challenge has begone! For art cinema lovers this film is a must see! Bravo!

This is clearly a low-budget/no-budget film, but it was made by a few people who know exactly what they are doing. The director has acquired a reputation as a difficult man; OK, so was Steve Jobs. The actress who plays the main character perfectly has gone on to become a good, dependable character actor. She is able and willing, in this film, to look dowdy, unattractive, weird, until she decides not to, and becomes genuinely attractive. The story is described in other reviews here; suffice it to say that it is never unbelievable, both central characters are spot-on, the acting is good, and the ending sums it all up. For a low-budget film, it works for me.

What a lovely movie this was. I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. It is romantic, but in a real, honest way as opposed to the rom-com type stuff we are supposed to think is romantic. It's quite an achievement to be a complex movie while remaining sweet and funny. The characters are likable without feeling forced and I ended up really enjoying them both. It's odd seeing a movie with only two actors, but it works. Clearly they had a small budget, but the story fit well within it. A more elaborate set would have ruined the simplicity. There are no grand, sweeping moments, just gentle progress through a surprisingly relatable story. Well worth the watch.

This is not your run-of-the-mill romantic comedy. It is obviously a low budget film, but it lacks nothing a higher budget film might have. It is actually a plus that the movie was frugal. The characters were played well and the chemistry worked. The movie seemed to go quickly although the story was a slower pace. I enjoyed watching it, but was disappointed when the movie seemed to end prematurely. If you want lots of laughs and occasional silliness, check out a Paul Rudd movie or something. This movie is serious and is based solely in dialog.
