There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
I saw this short screened at the Toronto BLOOD IN THE SNOW Canadian horror film fest this past weekend. This b & w little film is screamingly funny as a group of 8 zombies gather for Christmas dinner and squabble over the main course. Would love to see it out on DVD as part of a package of horror shorts. The make-up and special effects vary in quality, but overall are exceedingly professionally done for just a featurette. The actors & actresses under the zombie make-up acquit themselves admirably, and the dialogue is zany and well-written. I'd recommend this short to any horror film buff who is looking for a Christmas film (or for that matter a zombie film) which is more than a little out of the ordinary formula.
