Rebellious footballer Johnny falls for cheerleader Tracy. They come from opposite backgrounds: Tracy has a comfortable, well-off family, whereas Johnny is poor and broken. Tracy already has a boyfriend who acts like a jerk, so Johnny has to win Tracy's heart - something she seems reluctant to let him do.

This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
Don't Believe the Hype
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
I watched this movie not long ago on TCM. I was surprised by how sexual the film really was. But also delighted that they didn't make it into some lovey dovey, puppy love nonsense. Trying to smother the sexual obsession that 99.9% of teens harbour. Of course the pairing of Darryl Hannah and Aiden Quinn couldn't flop. I mean they're perfect together. The contrast between their looks and acting styles. She's a blonde, blue eyed cheerleader, he the dark haired and light eyed Italian with a leather jacket and enough troubles to fill a circus tent. Yes, I know it's been done a billion times before and in exactly the same setting, mood and dialogue. But hey? Who says that real life characters such as these are ever going to get original themselves? It's one of my favourite raunch-o-rama teen flicks and even though its not in the league of "The Breakfast Club" or "Dirty Dancing", its soundtrack still kicks ass and plus it has a happy ending! Who can beat that?
Reckless is a underrated, overlooked classic. Movie stars Adain Quinn as Johnny in his break out role & Daryl Hannah early in her career plays Tracey. The movie takes place in a cold, gray, smoggy depressing looking steel town somewhere in Pennsylvania. Johnny is a troubled smart ass rebel with a alcholic father, no friends & a mother who abandoned the family for reasons that are not clear. Tracey is a pretty & popular cheerleader with a loving upper middle class family & is planning on attending college in the fall. But something is missing for Tracey her boyfriend & friends are boring.... She is seeking the danger, excitement & mystery that Johnny can provide. In class they exchange glances at each other. A charity dance pairs Tracey with Johnny by chance. Their chemistry is instant. They fall quickly in love & lust. They can't stay away from each other. They have to have each other. You can feel Johnny's obsession with Tracey. This film contains more than one scene of the sexiest, most graphic, explicit & passionate sex scenes allowed in a R rated film. Full frontal nudity. A excellent Bob Segar soundtrack adds to the film. The ending really leaves it up to you.I would really recommend tracking this film down - it won't disappoint.I would love to see a DVD of this film complete with extra deleted scenes of the couple. This is one of my favorite all time movies.
I was still in Junior High when I saw this movie so it was kinda risqué to me. I thought Aidan Quinn was beautiful, especially in the shower scene! And I was already a fan of Daryl Hannah from Splash. I like the whole wrong side of the tracks love story idea. I felt bad that no one liked Johnny just cause he was poor and had a bad homelife. He was a really nice guy and he loved Tracy. The sex scenes were very good and very realistic. Daryl Hannah is one lucky girl to have gotten to play those scenes. The soundtrack is great and I wish I could purchase it. The "Kids in America" scene is awesome and ends with Tracy and Johnny in a pool. But the best scene is at the end when they play Bob Segers "Roll Me Away". I love that song!
Where can you get the soundtrack?? Romeo Void, INXS ("The one thing" - probably their best song) Bob Seger - very nice. Sure it's a little lame in the plot dept. but cool motorcycle, plenty of teen angst-it ain't Schindler's List but it works when you are surfing and happen upon it on a rainy weekend. Besides, Daryl Hannah never looks bad!
