Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
I am one of those people who can't do work in a quiet room, I have to have the television on or music playing. I often try to find a movie or a show that is not very interesting so I will only be partially distracted by it. I'd have to say that "Gettin It" might be the least interesting film ever made as it was not remotely distracting.The biggest problem with this movie is that it has no idea of what it wants to be. It is an obvious attempt at trying to make an "American Pie" rip off, down to the music playing in the credits. However, as cliché as "American Pie" was, it was also creative, funny and a few hundred times more realistic than "Gettin It." "American Pie" offers characters that actually make you care what happens to them. "Gettin It" is unable to do that to any degree. What you end up with is a sex comedy, with no plot, no laughs and the most bizarre, boring and stupid sex scenes ever seen in film.The biggest problem is that the actor playing Silver is actually very cute and could make you care about him. However he put into a role where he is forced to be the geeky guy who is dating a girl who looks like she could be the head cheerleader and HE is the one pushing for sex. Cheerleader looking girlfriend would rather hang out in the cemetery (I honestly have no idea why that was mentioned but never explained in this movie).You won't get invested in this movie. If you see it on Netflix and assume it might be worth it for a sex scene or anything else, don't give in. The film makers should make a public apology for allowing this film to exist.
Getting through this film was torturous. The cinematography was absolutely amateur. There was virtually no plot whatsoever. The acting was atrocious. I feel like my high school drama and film production crew on a four hundred dollar budget could have produced something more enjoyable. I did not imagine that films like this one could possibly exist on movie- renting websites where customers are actually trying to be entertained for their hard-earned money. The entire movie I kept imagining the producer being a fifteen-year-old perverted teenage boy with bad grammar and the film experience of a community college acting student. The storyline reminded me of the prelude to a porn except the dirty, overacted sex never happened. The sex scenes in this movie were horribly executed and with the storyline revolving around sex, I was disappointed to not feel stirrings of eroticism whatsoever. When this movie was trying to be sexy, it was utterly hilarious in the way that as a viewer you feel embarrassed for the director. When this movie was trying to be funny, I just felt depressed and let down that I had wasted my time viewing this, and now I am wasting my time writing a review for this. Bad, bad, bad.
Silver (Patrick Censoplano) is a teenage virgin. And he wants to get laid. Throw in some toilet comedy, stereotypes and stupid characters with amateurish acting and bad execution to get this independent and unfunny ejaculation movie.This movie is just so crappy, that I can't even seem to find words to describe how unfunny it is. Only thing going for the movie is nice naked chicks, which will surely be a hit with teenage boys with masturbation issues.Really with a script like this they should have just made a porno movie. The less said the better. Just ignore the fact that this movie exists.
I am not much of a movie person, and this is the first time I have ever registered myself on a movie website, but after seeing Getting' It, I had to get online and express my extreme disappointment with this masterpiece of crap that received my attention for two hours. I live in Japan and the translation of the title read "Virgin with a 40cm..." My wife and I thought it was a spin-off from 40 year old Virgin, oh how we were disappointed.First I recommend this movie be under a new genre, it should no longer be found in the "comedy" section, but rather be under the genre of "crap". I understand this genre is yet to exist, but after the Screen Writer's Guild see this movie, they will be able to make a new genre and not mislead people.Secondly, there should be a new Oscar award for worst writing, I think this movie would win that Oscar for the rest of the millennium because I think there has never been, nor will ever be a worse piece of written crap than the script for this movie.It is absolutely not funny and much as the actors try (or didn't try because they just seemed to be incapable of anything remotely related to acting) there is not even one funny joke. The only time I laughed was before I watched the movie, because I was in anticipation of seeing something like 40 year old Virgin.I hope the writer of this movie will not get discouraged because there are many opportunities to find a writing job on the wall of a smelly public bathroom, where he could probably learn from expert middle schoolers on the art of writing crap humor.If you were one of the many expecting to laugh (even one little 'haha' under your breath) I share in your pain and in the fact that you had to literally waste 2 hours of your life that could have been used for anything else (including punching yourself in the face, which would have been more amusing than having to witness Getting' It).What kind of a title is that anyway! I imagine the writer was like "Man what's a good title, how about 'Getting' It' yeah that's cooooooo!" Sorry this is long but if the editors of this comment section see this movie, they will sympathize with me and everyone else who was utterly disappointed. Thank you for reading, and do NOT waste your time, money, or life on Getting' It.
