It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

An attempt to make an exceptional film falls flat on its face. This isn't about spirituality but 'New Age' mumbo jumbo. And yes there's a lot of that going around the world and especially India. The good stuff: 1. The movie starts well and begins to get lame and predictable as you go on. 2. The location was fabulous. There are ashrams in such places in India so that was believable but the mountain where the guruji stayed was terrible. The problems: 1. The script was poorly written. The plot was strange and unexpected in a bad way. There was little characterization. 2.The acting: was quite average. Sam Keeley does a dumbed-down Keanu Reeves. Hera Hilmar was average and you just can't understand her existential crisis. At times it feels shes the one with the brain tumor. The guruji acted the part though strangely he doesn't appear in the cast list on IMDB- A miracle? go figure. 3. CGI effects could have been much better. In summary a potential A-lister becomes a movie you can watch on a weekend when you have nothing else to do.

Pretty stupid overall and the Guruji looks very much like Osho which tells you a lot about why this film is made. It's unbelievable they got some amazing actors in this and none of them has anything to do. It did keep me intrigued for some time but it gets more and more stupid as it goes on. West doesn't have really any idea what exactly Indian spirituality is and there are a lot of versions that get mixed up here, it's all a scam anyway the least these filmmakers could do was be compatible as these scammers in making you believe in it. The visual effects and editing are the parts that could have actually made an impact in a lot of scenes, alas those are also done very poorly.

Well, not what I expected, but good one, worth to watch. Recommended! This is the first minimal review I ever have had in IMDB!

I felt this movie deserves a review. I generally like fantasy movies, from the heavy stuff like LOTR to the lighter fare like Jesus of Nazareth and others.The movie is about a dude who goes to India to find his ex girlfriend who apparently went to India and joined a sect in an attempt to "know herself". Many girls do that, so nothing surprising here. The dude is quite persistent, so he ends up finding the ashram she joined and he joins it, too. As soon as he joins, he starts investigating the ashram and the disappearance of his ex. He eventually uncovers the truth and it's quite unexpected, and I mean that in a good way -- or a bad way for those hoping this is a horror movie. The movie works because it has a subtle fantasy atmosphere and it blends quite well skepticism with belief. The movie makes the case that miracles do happen all the time, but belief makes us see them. Moreover, miracles are just natural phenomena for which we simply don't have a convincing scientific explanation.I gave this movie 7 stars because I thought it was quite engaging given there were no car chases and gun battles.
