Fantastic!
Admirable film.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
If you have ever seen "The Quick & The Dead" and then watch this, even though the setting is different, you can see a lot taken from that Sharon Stone movie:1. Revenge against someone who hurt or killed a member of your family. 2. Owner of town takes a strong interest in you, even though you are there to kill/apprehend them. 3. Kill off all the henchmen at the end, for a dramatic one on one. 4. The person who works with you is named "Doc".Heck, even a scene where someone comes into Gina/Gage's room to give her something (in this case food) copies from TQ&TD when the girl comes in to give Sharon flowers. Both instances our heroine was awoken from sleep to turn a gun at the door to the intruder. If you pay attention there are even more similarities, though TQ&TD was much better. I like Gina Carvano a lot, but they need to do more with here - like another reviewer mentioned, spend some money on a movie she is going to be in. If you go into this movie without high expectations, then you'll be fine. However I have seen Gina do better.
'SCORCHED EARTH': Three Stars (Out of Five)A post-apocalyptic sci-fi western, starring Gina Carano as a bounty hunter who hunts down criminals in a climate change ravaged Earth. The movie also costars John Hannah, Ryan Robbins, Dean S. Jagger, Stephanie Bennett, Patrick Sabongui and Patrick Gilmore. It was directed by Peter Howitt, and it was written by Kevin Leeson and Bobby Mort. The film is now available for rent on video and VOD, and I found it to be mildly entertaining. In a future world, mostly destroyed by climate change, the two most valuable commodities are water purifiers and silver (used in breathing masks to survive the polluted air). Driving vehicles is outlawed, and Gage (Carano) works as a bounty hunter that rounds up criminals who break this law (as well as others). Her current target is Thomas Jackson (Robbins), an outlaw who's building a town to protect other criminals like himself. She gets into a lot of trouble, of course, trying to bring him to justice alone. Her friend Doc (Hannah) comes to her aid, and the streets quickly turn to blood. The movie has a great setup, and plot in my opinion. Carano is also an awesome action heroine lead, or at least she can be (like in 2011's 'HAYWIRE'). The film doesn't have a lot of good payoff though, and most of it is pretty dull actually. It's mildly entertaining throughout, but it seems like there was a lot of potential to do so much more with this film. So it's hard to argue that it's not a disappointment, in the very least.
A bounty hunter named Atticus Gage tracks down criminals in a post-apocalyptic Earth. Another cheap B Movie about the end of the world with lazy over the top acting, boring action scenes and terrible dialogue, perhaps pass it for the better. (0/10)
This is 2018. To sit through this felt like I was back in the 1980's. If it was made back then it would have been a great movie, however this is the 21st century and movies need more than over extended low grade long winded dialogue scenes and cheesy acting. As Megatron from Futurama says: "That was so terrible I think it gave me cancer."
