Marc Wiese and Juan Camillo Cruz shed light on the lives of two single mothers and their children in Venezuela, a country characterized by chaos. They show the harsh reality of children who are sent to beg and have to go to sleep hungry, as well as children involved in local gang wars. The directors also tell of mothers determined to protect their "lost children" from the dangers of the street, even if it means making personal sacrifices.
Reviews
So much average
This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
