PLL follows the lives of four girls — Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Emily — whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their queen bee, Alison. One year later, they begin receiving messages from someone using the name "A" who threatens to expose their secrets — including long-hidden ones they thought only Alison knew.

Good movie but grossly overrated
A different way of telling a story
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Though it's easy as a female to identify with many of the simple struggles that these girls faced. The dark and twisty parts, however often entertaining, have the slight tendency to stretch some of the storylines a bit further than they should be. This show was a staple for me for many years, but towards the end it became a bit too hard to follow/understand. Worth the watch, though.
I was personally a big fan of pll, but then I matured and now I hate it in every single way. I think I watched til season 6, but it's just so ridiculous now. They should have ended it after Mona, then it actually would be a good show, but making "A" someone you don't even know? That ridiculous. There's also no happiness in it, except when the girls are with their boyfriends/girlfriends. They are always sad and depressed, literally no happiness.
Although the last few seasons slightly dropped in quality, i don't think I've ever seen a TV show which has a mystery quite as complex and gripping as PLL's. Not only that, but the show is very successful in drawing us in with wonderful character development and acting. Overall, really worth the watch :)
The series is amazing and keeps you glued but the ending is CRAP!!! It spoils everything...I wish they could have thought of something better :(
