Highly Overrated But Still Good
I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
I found this short film very interesting, not only because it is genuinely fun and the fx are well placed, but one can also feel identified by the characters. Which is to say: Who hasn't had a discussion about a subject that is an object of our fanaticism? This is exactly what happens in this short film, as a parody of course, and pushed to the edge, taking into account, as well as homaging, classic shonen anime series. I've also enjoyed some other works from this director, such as "Bailando con el peligro", "Dedicado a nadie" among others and I totally recommend them. I was able to notice both quality and a unique point of view in all of his works. But I must say that "Otakus" is probably one of my fav ones. Thanks for sharing this with the rest of the world, Andrés!
I recently saw this movie on line. What Can I tell you about it? It just crap, a bunch of influences (anime, western and sci - Fi flicks), nothing more than that. The others movies of this "team" (Kamikaze) are like this short, low budges, low ideas, low acting and above all that... week ideas and bad directing. It seems Borghi never read theory or just a film magazine, more than that... he doesn't learn anything from the movies he saw. I will not surprise if this Argentinian low budget character release a film like a pro. Don't waste your time watching this piece of crap, watch "The godfather", "The dark knight", "Goodfellas", "A summer with Monica" of if you want to see an Argentinian movie watch "The aura", "Nine queens", "The swamp", "Red bear", "Son of bride"... it's a shame the director of "The aura" died and this guy still making "films". Long live to the good movies.
