Mythical Woman
May. 01,2014Seals were believed to be former human beings who voluntarily sought death in the ocean. Once a year, on the Thirteenth night, they were allowed to come on land, strip off their skins and amuse themselves as human beings, dancing and enjoying themselves. This short film explores the legend of Kópakonan, literally meaning “the Seal Woman”, one of the best-known folktales in the Faroe Islands.

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
