This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
Good story, Not enough for a whole film
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
I completely agree with the current rating. Although this movie was made 15 years' ago, the themes presented are prevalent today. The young actor Uriah Shelton(Henry), one of the most talented actor/singers I have ever seen, is absolutely superb. His acting & singing were outstanding. Many scenes with the dad brought tears to my eyes. The chemistry between Dash Mikok and Uriah was amazing & a credit to the casting department. Although the performances of the supporting cast were commendable for the most part, it's the performance of Uriah Shelton(Henry) that makes this movie a must see!! Quite sure his career in Hollywood has been most successful & will no doubt continue for many years to come. Robert Thompson, Victoria, B.C. Canada
I was totally disappointed towards the ending sequences. The big reveal left me wondering just who did the research on Military and their families.Anyways, moving right along ... The delivery fails so dramatically I find it hard to give this fluke a better rating til I see it a second time to see if I missed something. The story hits all the right notes. Faith. Loss of faith. Failure. Redemption. Faith regained and the ending with all the soldiers standing watch and giving assistance boosts this story back up ... we are never alone. But it isn't enough of a boost after the wooden performances turned in by all the actors. For that I blame a lack of inspired direction and giving this excellent story i high rating after a failure of performance would reward a director wrongly.
This movie has a target: the Fox watching, ghost-believing conservative American. Unless you are not in their target market, be ready for over an hour of awful acting, predictable plot with sprinkles of American Idol, Reuben Studdard included. All the stereotypes are there, from the pastor jump-starting the career of the little Christian boy to the ghost of the kid's dad in fatigues, with the three judges including the rude one, the comedian (a rip-off, quieter version of Larry the cable guy) and the one in the middle. The reason why I grade it a 2 and not a 1? No Kirk Cameron or Kirk Cameron nonsense. There are better ghost/feel good movies out there, much worst movies as well, but unless you are hoping for a movie like that, you will be sorely disappointed for that waste of time.
This movie I have to say is one of the best heart felt movies I have watched in a really long time. This movie to me is so good that I have watched it over 10 times. My husband has been deployed to Afghanistan before so this movie really hits home to me. I highly suggest watching this movie with your family because it is a great family movie but make sure you have tissues readily available! The ending of the movie completely shocked me because I did not see it coming. The singing is really good too! I do suggest that if you have little kids like ages 5 and younger make sure you use your discretion if you want them to watch.
