A lot of fun.
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Chul-ki is released from prison, and begins a ruthless quest of vengeance, working his way up a group of gangsters toward his main targets, Axe and Ghost-face. Slowly throughout the film, we learn the reasons behind his quest for revenge. He encounters a young girl, Tae-Yeon, who has her own reasons for wanting revenge against the gangsters. It was a pretty good film, moving at a good pace and did not overstay its welcome at a brief 89 minutes. The settings were interesting and matched the bleak and violent story line, from an abandoned apartment block, to an old factory, to an stark quarry. It explores themes of revenge, as in previous Korean films like the (much better) Old Boy and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. All in all, it was worth watching, though not the best of the genre.
