It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.
Yo, there's no way for me to review this film without saying, take your *insert ethnicity + "ass" here* to see this film, like now. You have to see it in order to know what you're really messing with.
If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
i think i have seen this movie 10 times and yet it wont bore me...don't know if the story is true or made up...John Abrahm has done a masterpiece.. a matured attempt to show that India is serious about quality movies....i think shoojit had been burning his A** out to make some thing very very different from the usual bollywood masala types... SHOOJIT i Bow you my friend...thanks for this brilliant movie...its a simple movie in fact its a kind of documentary and may not be of interest to non indians...but the way the movie was directed is worth watching again and again....best scene to watch for is ...BALA : you are doing good work, you report directly to me ....
First of all, I'm glad that someone cared to make a film on such subject. Premise is really interesting and promises something different. This espionage drama/political thriller has decent story but screenplay is not up to the mark. Somewhere between historical timeline and a political conspiracy, it fails to maintain its coherence. It is somehow misses the elements which hold it together. That is the reason why it tastes your patience but fails to reward it. After the end, I felt it would have worked better as a documentary since characters fail to create an emotional bond. Even with such a realistic scenario and forcing elements, it does not create any tensed atmosphere or thrill. But still it is at least an appreciative effort because of its subject and sincerity towards it. John Abraham tries his best. He and director Shoojit Sircar should be acknowledged. However, film does not stand tall on the basis of film-making.
When I watched Zero Dark Thirty I thought such kind of films will never be made in India.Even if someone attempts to make such a film it will be diluted with lots of nonsense.I was proved wrong after watching this film.I still cannot believe it is an Indian film.First of all the script is based on historical facts.Second the film is based on Military Intelligence and Geo Politics. Indians very rarely take films on such subjects since it demands very strong screenplay and often the producers and directors for commercial reasons will dilute the scripts by adding some nonsense. First of all the main credit should go to John Abraham for producing this film and second to Shubhendu Bhattacharya and Somnath Dey for writing an incredibly brilliant screenplay and third to director Soojit Sircar for not tapering with the screenplay.Loved this film.
The movie links the Shrilanka's Civil war, started in 1980s for Tamil people's human rights, to India's Ex PM's assassination. The movie shows the whole investigation and India's efforts to give peaceful solution during Shrilanka's Civil war.The whole movie has nailed the truth of huge political conspiracy. The whole direction of the movie is excellent. Actors have done great job.The movie shows the Indian cinema has started evolving now. The script of the movie is fantastically written and executed. But, the movie is not any popcorn movie which is seen for fun. So, watch it only when you want to see really some interesting and realistic movie. For me it is 10/10...Cheers for the whole team of the movie.
