Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
the audience applauded
Excellent but underrated film
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
I am writing to say.. even if you know exactly what is going on. Even if you get that the father is nuts. Even if you know most of what you see is dear old dad, pretending it's not him. This movie is awful. I gave it 1 star, because I had to give it a star. This is worst than awful. This movie found it's way to my TV. I watched it. Several times I thought the third rerun of Supernatural, even if I saw it earlier today still would of been more surprising than anything in this movie. It's confusing, and seriously people, the nut case would of been handcuffed and thrown into the cop car for kidnapping the caretaker. He wouldn't been able to ride with his kids to the hospital. He would of been treated as dangerous. The face in the window, didn't cause me to jump. It read delusion, because of how the dad was acting when he saw it. It didn't even look like it scared him, just surprised him. Than after seeing the hand print on the window the next morning. He was like Let's go outside and play. It's a Yawner. It makes stupid sense. The writer needs to not quit his day job. The curtain at the end says Just in case you figured my stupid movie out, here's a twist. Or possibly the sequel to the worst movie ever. My advice is skip the movie and take a nap. Believe me, your dreams will be much more interesting and exciting than this awful movie.
Spoiler alert and a big one......Re watch it and pay attention to detail. I'm thinking that the dad gravitates between delusional and sane all throughout the movie. But where everyone reviewing thinks he is sane and off meds at the end. He isn't. That's a delusion too and that's really him still in the house looking out the window.....with two deals children I might add. Brilliant actually! The movie is not what it seems.....I guess in the scary parts is what happens when you mix powerful drugs with alcohol.I thought it was a great movie and the beginning really does catch you of guard thinking where in the world is the mom and why is she not there after talking about how great it would be at this wonderful cabin.
What the hell was that ? I thought I knew what was going on (father taking the drugs, hallucinating and all whacked out on drugs) then it jumped all over the place without explanation AT&T all. Why this? Why that ? Couldn't follow this movie from the start. It was building up for the grand finally and fell far short of thrilling. "He will get what's coming to him"... And they let him go to the Hospital with his kids after he kidnapped and almost killed a man while on drugs ? Don't want to live near these police.. All and all. Very disappointing movie that had potential but didn't take advantage of the money spent on it. What a shame I wanted an hour and change on this one..
~When you want to carefully review something, it's helpful to start with the end and work your way backward.~ So, imagine this: a nice old man shows up at a remote cabin in the woods to bring supplies to a family stuck in a winter storm. For his trouble, some lunatic beats shiz-nit out of him for no real reason, binds him with duck tape, and sticks him in the freezing attic for three days without food, water, or heat. The police finally come busting down the front door looking for this poor feller. Now: What do you think they are going to do with the offender? Allow him to just saunter out of the house, arms wrapped around his family? The movie is written just well enough not to let that happen. So, if we agree the ending is not what it seems, let's use the clues given to us throughout the film to figure out what really happens to this man and his kids. Hint: This is The Shining without the happy ending.
