Absolutely the worst movie.
Words fail to describe it ,surreal ,romantic yet tragic in a way that is artistically beautiful ,makes you wanna believe in love and life again....maybe miracles do happen. Saw it way back in 2008 as a a young teen , really rubbed off me , to this day i wish it has an alternative ending, the storyline really digs deep into the heart ,a young man in pursuit of love, yet at the minute everything seems rosy and picture perfect life happens as it always does,...leaving readers wishing for an alternate ending.....maybe the tragic storyline is the way things really are or adds to the beauty but in the end one is sure to be left desiring a happy ending ..those moments that make up life are summed up so beautifully......varanam ayiram is an outstanding film which portrays the beauty of love, loss ,recovery and moving on with life..
1-Jan-2014.This was in my watch-list since long and it is checked today when I watched this on the Kalaingnar TV today...but it shall remain just that - a Check Mark.Suriya is eminently watchable, an eye-candy as an army officer. The guy can act, emote and underplay nicely. It obviously was his movie all through. Sameera Reddy...you watch her in this and you know why she never made it to the top. She looks old, spent for a youthful Suriya. No emotion every reaches her eyes.Suriya as the old man is okay and Simram look old and ugly. The movie itself is a drag. The initial feel when one gets on seeing the narrative style and the 'Self' positioned camera is that you are in for a good fare..but repeating the father-son sentiment throughout the whole looooooooooong movie became a drag. Some songs are good but most of them would have been forgotten by the music director itself.Watch it of Suriya, if you must and if you have nothing else in life to do.M$ Mukundhan Sampath
This movie has really wasted my time. I felt very sad after watching this movie. The movie has a story which is made in 1960's.The music though good I was not able to enjoy movie due to the old story.I really ask why the movie has outdated actress like Simran? I felt very bad after seeing this movie in my DVD disc.Even the actor Surya does double roles, the movie has failed and wasted time of viewers. This is an absolute time wasting movie. The movie does not have any innovative ideas .An old romance seen in the 1960's.Totally the movie has wasted my time.I felt very sad for the Director this movie. Why wasting time and money by touching old concepts.Think new.If you couldn't think new, please don't make movies like this and waste time of Audencies.
Vaaranam Aayiram--itz Surya all the way...He roxx to the core....What a versatility he gave to the different phases of his character... As a teenager, lover, loser, commando, aged man his performance is top class...His body language and voice modulation all are excellent...I can say..now he is in big league with the finest actors of our country...Coming to the film....itz an autobiographical one...so we cant blame the pace of the movie...Even though the narration is racy in first half. In second half there are lot of incidents...(transition from a loser to a good individual..) Surya-Sameera reddy love track is minty cool..n Surya-Divya track is also OK...Then the Delhi episode...IMO itz a refreshing idea frm Goutham..(To overcome the loss of tragic event in Hero's life..)Someone may not agree that...After that the army scenes...surya really looks like an army man...And the final dialogue from simran is also touching...Performancewise Surya...His career best performance till date....Next comes Simran...Matured performance ..Both Sameera and Divya are apt for the roles...No gimmicks in Cinematography and Editing...BGM and music is beautifully synchronised with the mood of the film....If you are looking for a masala entertainer, then stay away from here...Overall, itz a must watch ....
