Best movie of this year hands down!
Powerful
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
"Iblard jikan" is a Japanese animated movie from almost 10 years ago. It runs for half an hour and is the only filmmaking credit for Naohisa Inoue. My title for this review describes it very accurately already and I also agree with the other reviewer. This one here is a joy to look at and it must be pretty amazing seeing it on the really big screen. But it is also hurt by the completely lack of everything beyond great visuals. No characters, no character development, no plot nothing. It is really more of a collection of impressions than a real movie. There is no story in here and that's why I eventually believe, this is very much style over substance. It kinda hurts me to say that because it's so beautiful, but this was a missed chance. Had there been a good story, then this could have been a really great outcome. But this way it is very forgettable in my opinion and I do not recommend the watch.
This is something for any avid anime critic. It from a technical view point is beautiful. Still without a story it can not fully be considered a short film. It is more of an extension of the artworks. Rather than showing the audience pieces of artwork in a slide show manner there is sound and movement added. In one shot they'll have a girl opening a door on a house inside of a painting. On another the painted lake comes alive with the ripples and reflections of real water. Even the sounds from a near by restaurant adds to the atmosphere. I enjoyed watching this from a learning perspective. With that in mind I would suggest it.
