Excellent but underrated film
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
PROS: Technically this movie is a train wreck, but creatively this movie is outstanding. The whole idea that a sad brother wants answers and the only way he will get them is by torturing people is so freaking hilarious to me, but the movie is anything but hilarious. This is a dark and horrifying film. Cabin in the woods meets the invitation. There really is nothing conventional about this film, at all, from the character development to the plot development this movie does nothing you'd expect, which I like because it kept you on your toes.CONS: Basic flaws include low budget acting, un suspenseful filmography, crappy resolution, and poorly strung together plot. But besides the basics there is one con that actually hindered my viewing experience, and that would be... The acting. Although this will be the only thing I'll harp on this wasn't the only thing wrong with the movie. What really frustrated me with the acting was the inability to express genuine emotions. What you got from each and every character in the movie were stagnant responses. This is bad because it made the characters flat, and in a horror film no character ever should be flat. That is a strong no no.www.chorror.com
This is a low budget UK horror. Five friends are lured to a cabin and find themselves in a battle to survive as a vengeful brother seeks revenge. The friends are a dislikeable bunch which is a major drawback of the movie. I didn't really feel any empathy for the possible victims and therefore it lacks a little suspense. The acting is a major letdown of this movie. Many UK horror films at least possess decent actors but this sadly isn't one of them with the girls being particularly poor. There are some pretty unpleasant scenes as the situation escalates but it's all pretty predictable and far fetched stuff. Truth or Dare is at least watchable but ultimately quite disappointing and forgettable. With a better cast this could have been much better.
Spoiler alert. Good film. All the characters are deeply unlikeable, and actually you are not that fussed about them dying. You're actually on the side of the psycho for a while. One thing that has been mentioned is why someone looks up the police emergency on the net. I think it's actually supposed to be that there is no phone line only internet so she is trying to alert police that way. The part that unsettles and what I object to, is why does the rapist not get her just desserts? She basically rapes two blokes or rather forces one to rape the other.... Would have been happier if it was long suffering boyfriend only that survived. The storyline is quite good, would have benefited from better more engaging actors. Good to pass the time but don't base your night around it.
What is with useless torture flicks Either it's two people being hunted and spooked for an hour and a half only to be brutally killed or it's a group of people playing some sick game for no real reason to put the audience through all of that. What's really going on for a movie to be 90% violence with no originality, no clever plot, just running around and gruesome death? In this movie a young shy, outsider gets humiliated by his peers at a college party and for some reason that warrants a crappy film about a psycho playing truth and dare w those peers for no compelling reason or engaging dialogue for interest. In fact you don't mind if any of them die yet don't care if they live either, none of the characters are likable or memorable. There is a light surprise at the end which is why it got 4 stars more than 2 as I wanted give but not a good enough surprise to make up for sitting through that drivel.
