Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Fantastic!
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
People should understand that short horror films like Guinea Pig aren't very story based, but for me, Guinea Pig failed at being scary just because I didn't feel like the characters had any motivation, and I was just left with a bad taste in my mouth from the gore.I understand that this film was mostly meant to shock viewers and make them feel uncomfortable with it's disturbing visuals, which could make Guinea Pig decent in the sense that it achieved what it set out to do, but because of how realistic the torture scenes and gore were, I really just didn't enjoy it as much as movies like Cannibal Holocaust where the gory scenes are planned out really well and give the scenes a freaky, shocking feeling, instead of just someone getting stabbed. The only part I kind of enjoyed was the final scene in which the girl is stabbed through the eye with a needle. I'm not a fan of needles to begin with, so this really freaked me out. While the special effects were really good, I still >>DIDN'T SEE<< any reason for the scene in the first place.
This is the first from a whole lot of "Guinea Pig"-short films. It was released in 1985 and I don't know if it's the most disturbing, but they're all in dimensions where there's really no "most" anymore at all. The story from this one can be summarized quickly: A couple guys abduct a girl (the guinea pig for their experiments), tie her up, humiliate her and torture her in every way you can possible imagine and a couple ways you can't even imagine. There's not much talk, just the occasional moaning from the victim in her white dress and girly shoes. The several segments of the film each receive a title like "burn" or "worm" which describes the method of torture about to be applied. It's hard to find any positive factors about this short film. The sudden cuts into the green with the birds singing were possibly the attempt by the director to create a bit of a contrast, but certainly weren't particularly well-executed. The only one I can think of is how the director succeeded in making it look so damn realistic and the final written words of the film certainly tricked many people into believing this was not fake, but a real documentary. This one is definitely not for the mild-mannered. So if you had too look away repeatedly during the last Tarantino movie, stay away. But if you like horror, gore, shock-and-awe, then check this one out. The only part I had to kinda look away was the eye sequence near the end. If you manage the same, you're pretty good I'd say. And if you really end up enjoying it, you got a full franchise ahead of you, in which most films are considerably longer than these 43 minutes.
And yet you are also human. What do you reconcile? That you should follow the instincts of an animal? No good! Unless you have an abnormality, you can't turn off your mind from reflecting on what you've done. Or seen, as the case may be.If you continue to act like an animal, making that choice, you aren't an animal anymore, but a savage. An animal doesn't know. But a savage does. Primitive tribes are more like animals- they have nothing to compare. But we are living in, let us say, a more enlightened place where someone can at least tell you that you're acting like an animal. So, this film... it doesn't work. If you say it shows the human animal, you're mistaken. It shows the human savage. It depicts those from the enlightened world who know better making choices to be savage. There is nothing great here. Only that if the tables were turned, we the audience might cheer. And is that savage? Probably. But it would at least say that we're waiting to see justice done and not just peeking in on savagery, as if to say we're too cowardly to do it, but we don't mind seeing it and/or fantasizing about it.I didn't watch the whole thing. Why should I? I have no interest in anything but elevating myself further beyond animal behavior. Perhaps you're wondering if I would be savage myself if that girl were my daughter? Oh yes. I don't deny that I am as all humans, able to be savage. However, ask me if I would kidnap someone for this purpose- no, that's sick and, worse, devoid of humanity.I would recommend that this film be shown to judges before sentencing rapists, kidnappers, and serial killers. Maybe then we'd find a bit more justice and lot less tolerance for savages.
I just finished watching guinea pig - Devils experiment. I have to say that this movie, although having very good FX, better then I expected, was NOT a good movie. I honestly cant say that I enjoyed this movie at all. Of course It is effective in its way of being a shocking, realistic, twisted 43 minutes of torture, but I found it to be very boring (and not as gory as i hoped). And also I found that the torturers were very annoying, when they talked and loughed trying to sound tough all the time, that ruined it even more (and Im sure there's some people out there who will agree with me on that one). I have now seen guinea pig 1,2,3,5 and the best one out of those in my opinion is guinea pig 2 - Flowers of the flesh and blood. I wont say much more about Devils experiment, other than Great fx, descent acting from the girl, annoying fu**ing torturers, overall I give it 4 stars on account of the FX cos they are awesome.
