Good concept, poorly executed.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Rather than write a whole review, let's just say it's a remake of The Innocents. It's good enough for most people to watch, I watched plenty of 'B' movies way back when theaters had double features on Saturday afternoons. They threw in some enticing nudity of Miss Sobieski to bring in the men, who will bring their women with them. Like most remakes, it doesn't compare to the original. I don't understand why so many Hollywood people think they can improve on the classics, and then somehow convince others to give them millions of dollars to do it. And they wonder why we don't go to see their crap movies.

I would have to say it here that if anything is not true itself falls looking at this film was a difficult experience i can see why so many people hated it the this does not fit into the horror or suspense genre either,its surprising that something made for critics is seen first by people i have seen this film today i got the DVD lying in my collection it was packed now i wish it was remained sealed i don't know if it direct to DVD or not but if it was theatrical release my prayers are with all the audience members i can imagine how hard it was for them to sit through this pain,it is one of the worst adaptations of the most important novella the turn of the screw by Henry James.There is a film Nicole Kidman did in 2001 i guess its way better then this,this film killed everything i mean it was going good suspense wise until it take the viewer for granted and the main character collides with itself i am talking about the character Anna it is intentionally serious for no reason why is that my i ask what was the writer thinking was it on purpose to just kill of the big buildup to the a great climax.The Plot:Anna Veigh gets a job of a nanny to handle two kids who are orphans the place she is staying is at country side soon sometime after Anna feels that the place might be haunted & might be linked to the death of her predecessors,are the children involved in it or is it her imagination the answers lies in this film.The Cast:impressive cast id loved Tara Fitzgerald & Leele Sobieski was just amazing to look at shes got a nice body and talent of good dialog delivery i wonder why she is not famous.There is a lesbian scene here and an orgasm scene here but don't let this fool you its only one minute of it this is not some soft core stuff so beware.Overall In A Dark Place 2006 should be watch alone in a jungle avoid watching this with family this will bore you out my rating is 3/10.Skipp It.

this movie is an absolute stinker.It has absolutely nothing to commend it.The acting is uninvolved and incapable of involving the audience.It feels as if the actors were going through the motions and didn't care one jot about the script or characters.There is no suspense, excitement or drama in the film.I was completely bored and frankly confused at times.I learned from reading other user comments that the movie was inspired by a book. Perhaps if I had read the book I would have cared more about what was happening on screen. I don't think its worth the effort of finding out.

The idea behind this movie wasn't terrible-a retelling of the classic psychological horror story "The Turn of the Screw", only, let's remove all of the ambiguity from the the character of the Governess, and make her an overt nutter suffering from childhood trauma. There are no ghosts- Little Miles and Flora are threatened by their crazy delusional governess. BUT, the movie falls flat on its face- bad acting, bad direction, bad script, bad editing...Leelee is particularly disappointing- has she given a good performance as an adult? The four points are for LeeLee's breasts (they are easily worth two a piece!) Want a good "haunted house" scare? See instead- "The Innocents", "The Haunting" (the original, not the remake), "The Uninvited" (best séance scene in history), and, most recently, "The Orphanage".
