So much average
One of my all time favorites.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Mirzya, when the trailer came out I couldn't help checking on the legend. The legend of Mirza Sahibaan. A sad tale of two star crossed lovers. They did elope together on Sahibaan's wedding day to another man and when found were killed by the relatives of Sahibaan. It is that poignant story that this movie set out to deliver with parallel drawn to a modern romance between two young people from Jodhpur. Oh how it fails !!! Firstly, the modern story of love doesn't make any sense. It has no practicality and absolute non trend setter. In the actual legend Mirzaa and Sahibaan grew up together and were in love since childhood. They were detached for a short time after their mutual attraction was discovered. Here, the girl moved abroad at a very young age and came back only to be betrothed to another man. This man she knew very well and she lead him on. Her betrothal wasn't against her wish. By this time she hadn't seen Her childhood friend the title protagonist of the movie for a minimum of 15 yrs. still when she comes across him and recognize him she hands herself over not caring to break her official engagement also. Riding 2 horses on one arse anyone? How can a person expect an old acquaintance to stay the same after so much time. Allowing a grungy horse care taker who never went to school and has a violent history to access you can only happen when you know the actor is Harshvardhan Kapoor. 2ndly there is a line repeated over and over "hota hai, pyaar mein aisa aksar hota hai". Especially after a murder and a suicide. I felt like finding the script writer or director and asking what they were thinking? Mirzaa of legend was not a sociopath or a criminal. If a child shoots his teacher he needs help. It doesn't happen often in love. No. Children that small are not supposed to feel in love like that. If one girl commits suicide in order to let another one elope with her friend, i am sorry, but that also does not happen often in love. Lives matter and are not disposable for main protagonists like flies dropping dead. 3rdly justice wasn't done even to the legend of Mirza. What was that tribe he was shown belonging from? What were those burning meteor like things dropping from sky? The script was so weakly written i couldn't believe it came from Gulzar. The music although annoyingly frequent was the only saving grace of the movie. This movie turned Mirzaa into a criminal and a stalker. Sahibaan turned into a beauty with no brains who came all finished from abroad only to have eloped with a guy she didn't know for years and whose plan was to "cross the border and phir dekhenge.." . Cross the border to where? Pakistan? The lesser being said about the performances the better. Harshvardhans face wasn't visible fully for the entirety of the movie and his dialogue delivery was weak.
This would have a great movie only if the story would have been as better as the screenplay! Such a poor story line was definitely not what is expected from Rakesh OmPrakash Mehra. It is really hard to believe that it was him who churned out beauties like that of Rang De Basanti and Bhag Milkha Bhag. The teasers in itself were not that immersive, but still I had thought that it might be a good once since it was none other than Rakesh OmPrakash Mehra!!! But I was wrong...weak story line, no synchronization and bad acting are some of the reasons that makes this film clumsy. The story makes no sense, be it the childhood story or the one in the present. And the actors are so poor in terms of their acting skills. I really don't understand if they were selected on the basis of their skills or their filmy background!!! But, yes the songs, lyrics and the cinematic effect of the movie is what is quite good. You can definitely give a thumbs up for that. And if you ask me if I am going to recommend this movie to anybody, it is definitely a no.
After watching this movie, I was in a state of shock. No story, no acting, only sad voice of Daler Sahab was echoing everywhere. I am a big big follower of Gulzar Sahab and Mehra jee. 82 years Gulzar's age has stopped thinking as he used to in his earlier writings. Please watch Magadheera, you will feel far better. The most funny part of this movie was that the past story of Mirza sahab, everyone was mute and dumb. That's more irritating. Without saying a word the past is told. And same scene is repeated almost n number of times to make you feel irritated and predict the present story. Don't waste money on this movie.
The movie begins with some competition taking place at a stunning location of Leh. From the first frame audience are left clueless as when the action just kicks off the other modern tale begins where two school kids in Jodhpur begins the story. The boy Munish played by Harshvardhan Kapoor falls in love with a police officers daughter Suchi played by Saiyami Kher, a tragic incident takes place which falls them apart. After some years, the couple meet each other again but this time Suchi is a soon to be princess and Munish (now Adeel) is a horse trainer and the prince orders Adeel to train his fiancée. Then starts the love triangle between the lovers and the prince Karan played by Anuj Choudhary. In between the modern day story comes the story about legendary lovers Mirza-Sahiban. The historic love story has not even a single dialogue which not only make the audience confused but also irritates the people . People are left confused whether the movie is about Reincarnation or its the two different story played. Director makes no attempt to connect with either the audience or the tales. The only thing that is served properly is the camera-work and an hunting sequence with the tiger. Music of the movie is decent but the direction, Narration and the tragic let down screenplay makes the audience question about the real content. On top 135 minutes will make you feel like the movie is almost 270 minutes. Both the new-comers Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher does a decent job since there were not much dialogues and screen time given to prove there worth. The co-actors like Art Malik and K.K.Raina doesn't leave a mark and Om Puri character is meaningless because the role is not clearly defined. Anjali Patil who plays a lover devoted to Adeel makes her screen time count. Overall go for the movie if you want to witness some beautiful locations and tragic love story but don't expect the magic by the director as he has made some tremendous movies in the past.
