Very disappointing...
Fantastic!
It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
This is a great late night movie if you are a horror/mystery fan and if you can swallow a couple of clichés here and there. The ambiance in the movie is authentically creepy, with some decent jump scare moments. Both the actors (Jason Patric and Louisa Krause) performed their roles extremely well, their characters are believable and I liked the Streak much, because she was likable and very hot in some scenes. The ending was great and I don't think it was predictable. I would definitely love to see more work from this director and Louisa Krause in some different roles.
The Abandoned was a good movie up until the end.It had a good & creepy vibe to it the entire time that had me on the edge of my seat wondering *What is in the basement?!* When I found out, I was like, That's it??!! This movie had great potential but it was totally ruined by a stupid plot twist & an even lousier ending. It felt like when somebody gives you a present, you're excited to open it but once you do & find out what's inside isn't what you hoped it was or wanted, that's the feeling I had, that feeling of disappointment. It felt like what they were going for in the end was something different but it failed & ended up screwing up the entire movie.Would I recommend somebody go see it? I don't know.I think it was a movie that's worth watching once but not more than once.I know I'll never watch it again. If you have a chance to see it for free, go for it but if you have to pay, forget about it.It's not worth paying for.I'm so happy I didn't have to pay to see it & feel sorry for anybody that did
Girl starts new job doing security at huge, dimly-lit, and spooky building. . . . Girl meets cantankerous, wheelchair-bound cripple who is her supervisor (Jason Patric -- who's great). . . . Girl does just about everything that her Supervisor tells her not to -- like letting in homeless man and his dog and opening creepy door in basement. . . . Girl discovers part of building was used to house deformed and mentally-challenged kids, who were (of course) abused and whose ghosts are (of course) angry and whose angry spirits (of course) have now been released by the Girl's opening of "the door". . . . Girl runs around in dark corridors with -- well -- really not much happening. . . . Girl is shown in hospital bed where she -- deformed and in a coma -- sheds a tear and dies. . . . Girl's Father, the Supervisor, and Grandfather, the Bum, sit around her hospital room. . . . apparently, we were in the Girl's own head all the time. NOT poorly acted; NOT poorly directed, but: POORLY written and POORLY conceived. Not awful, just one big Y- AAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW-N.
I am a horror fan and in my opinion this movie was pretty original and suspenseful. Yes there were some clichés but the concept of the plot is something unique for the genre. It is about a young, troubled woman who is doing a night shift in an abandoned building, with her supervisor. And what should be a routine task, soon turns to be a living hell. There is a surprising twist at the end, but I will tell no more about the story, because I don't wanna write spoilers. The director did a great job and there were some decent scares. Jason Patric was solid, as expected, and Louisa Krause was very convincing in her role too, who was completely unknown to me before watching the movie. Overall I would recommend it to all the horror/thriller fans, it is not a masterpiece, but it is certainly worth the watch.
