Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
This is the story about a horse and a girl. the girl's father brings a broken leg race horse and takes care of it till it heals. after healing, they the horse to the race. I think this movie was short and sweet. After watching this movie I too want a horse as a pet and live in beautiful place like in the movie. I suggest everyone to watch this movie.
I love the movie. A lovely girl who is in love with a house. And dad and mum who love their daughter and help her to realize his dream. The passionate to pursue the winning is also great. Dakota is a actress I like. And I also like her in move Man on Fire. Dakota is doing well in the movie. the music is also great. The scene in the movie is also great. The length is proper for such a story and in a good arrangement. And the family is having trouble in finding the money for the race is impressive. The cost of pursuing the dreamer is sometime expensive. In the end, when we see the victory, we shall also remember all the hard the have met.
Middling family fare concerning Russell and daughter Fanning aiding the rehabilitation of a lame mare called Sonador (anglicised to "Dreamer") who exudes an almost supernatural affinity with the young Fanning character, convincing her that she can not only recover to become a racing prospect, but win a significant race meet in spite of fierce competition from rival horse owned by David Morse's character.Elisabeth Shue is an added bonus to the mix as Russell's love interest, while veteran crooner and sometime actor Kris Kristofferson plays Russell's estranged father, rebuilding the bonds long broken with the mutual investment in the enigmatic mare. It's very Disney-esque entertainment standard and tone, strictly mild family fare not so much a horse racing picture as a story about second chances and underdogs making good against the odds. Some nice touches and also good to see Luis Guzman in a rare non-menacing role as Russell's faithful stable-hand.
Much has been made in these pages about this film, as far as not being a true story. This inspired account about an injured horse the Crane family bring back to life, is one of the most engaging films about the racing sport in memory. Of course, this is no "Seabiscuit", but the film makers are not claiming it to be.John Gantins, the director and writer of this picture, knows what to give the public. Aside from the heart warming feeling in the film, he was blessed with a cast that does justice to the material. The love of a young girl for a horse, that by all accounts should have been shot because of the injured it suffered during an accident, is the stuff that makes good family movies. "Dreamer, Inspired by a True Story" is totally dominated by Dakota Fanning's presence in the film. Miss Fanning, is a luminous young actress the camera adores. She is a natural, as she shows in this film. Dakota Fanning has the uncanny ability of being real at all times. Her love for Sonador and her determination to take the horse to the Breeders' race consumes her, as well as her family.Kurt Russell is also good as Cale's father. He is a man of principle who loves what he does best, bringing horses to their full potential. Kris Kristofferson plays the grandfather who wants Cale to succeed and in the process he is reunited with his son. Elizabeth Shue is seen as a mother who has to work to help meet ends when her husband loses his job. David Morse, one of the best character actors around doesn't have much to do, and the same goes for the wonderful Luis Guzman, playing one of the stable men.The film is recommended for families with children. Mr. Gantins created an excellent entertainment that will satisfy young and old because it shows a young girl with a firm resolution to do the right thing for the horse she loves.
