When Debbie Strand is sent to live with her elderly grandmother it is the easiest thing she could have done until things go terribly bad. Her grandmother is too controlling for Debbie and will not let her have a life. Debbie had enough and beats her to death with her cane. Now her eyes are set on her new teacher, Mr. Rinaldi. She finds out that his girlfriend is out of town and erases all her messages on his answering machine. She will stop at nothing to get him even if it means murder. Now the easiest thing for her to do is to kill for what she wants.Rose McGowan didn't go thru the bad plastic surgery when she made this movie, so she's still hot.The film isn't.
This is one of the most inspirational films I have ever seen. Never before have I seen something on film that was so honest and true to life. It almost felt as if I were watching my own life unfold on screen. Rose is wonderful, and this film marks one of here greatest moments in her career. The story is filled with realistic passion, lost in a lot of todays movies. For some reason it has gone almost unnoticed. The subject matter rings true as the story progresses into an amazing story of a woman's desire to survive, and gain what is truly hers. Rose is one of the greatest actresses of her generation and This movie must not be missed.
Bought the DVD because I'm a Rose McGowan fan, and was actually mildly surprised! Despite the VERY unnecessary sex scene in the middle, the plot was quite good (but laughable!) There were a few decent plot-twists (some you can see coming a mile off!). But some parts were very cringe-worthy. All in all a slightly disturbing and dark film. The acting is not Oscar worthy, but Rose McGowan's performance is actually very convincing! Probably the best she's ever been. The character of Debbie is quite complex- a villain who you grow to pity-Rose plays her excellently. But the character of the teacher (who's name actually slips my mind...) is slightly unbelievable, though well portrayed.A film most likely to be appreciated at a teenage girls' sleepover! And for males there's the benefit of Debbie Strand's rather skimpy outfits.
You know I just really love these kinds of movies. It all is credited to the actors/actresses that play in them. Devil in the Flesh is no exception.Rose Mcgowan played her part so well that it was very believable. The whole fatal attraction idea blended with a spark of hatred and evil put forth by McGowan is just grand. The storyline is pretty basic in the same lines as Poison Ivy. Most people will say if you have seen one you have seen them all. Well I can relate to that line but you really have to give them a chance and watch them as individual films. At least see the work that the actors/actresses have put forth. You never can tell one may be better than the other and with this one it puts forth enough evilness to push it to the front of the line!!!
