The Strange Ones
January. 05,2018 RMysterious events surround the travels of two brothers as they make their way across a remote American landscape. On the surface all seems normal, but what appears to be a simple vacation soon gives way to a dark and complex web of secrets. This is the feature film version of the 2011 short film going by the same name.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Best movie ever!
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Mysterious events surround two travelers as they make their way across a remote American landscape. On the surface all seems normal, but what appears to be a simple vacation soon gives way to a dark and complex web of secrets. The Strange Ones could have been such a fantastic small indie movie but what starts as a mystery turns into a boring mess of a film with really boring perfomances and an even worse set of thrills and twists as well. If you're looking for something worth your money or time this film is really not your piece of cake believe me on that.
'The Strange Ones' is a very understated film. It never really makes a lot of effort to blow you away in any one particular scene. Instead it is happy to build the tension and develop the story and attempt to impress you in that way. For this reason some are going to find this a very dull film experience. It has a runtime of only 80 minutes and even that can feel like it is stretching itself thin at times. If you look deeper though I think this film actually had quite a cool little story arc to tell, it just didn't do it in the most impactful way. When the credits rolled I had to actually stop and ask myself whether I liked the film or not. Even now, hours later at I write this I'm not entirely sure how I feel. I think I liked what the film was trying to do, and if I understand it rightly it is quite a smart film. It is quite ambiguous though and I know a lot of people aren't fond of that in modern cinema. There are certain scenes in the film (like the disappearing cup) that lead to me think there were a lot of layers attempting to be piled on here and a second viewing may be necessary to fully appreciate what it was trying to achieve. It won't be for everyone, but if you're willing to invest some time and energy of thought then you might just have a very good time with this one.
It feels half the reviewers did not even watch this movie. Americans need big endings or every detail spelt out to them. it is so refreshing to see an American movie take an artistic path that deals with real life issues as well as the surreal aspects of life we all do deal with. The tone, soundtrack, script, directors and performances of James Freedson and Steve Pettyfer are worthy of an oscar but of course the Academy won't notice this film. i am dumb found at the reviews and lose respect for Americans intelligence levels. This film is a worthy 9 out of 10 and i recommended for someone who wants to watch a movie where you actually have to think for yourself. The directors actually carve out the movie A to Z there is no confusion or open ended questions. You just have to open you mind! but seeing the films making money in the USA I am glad Steve has turned down commercial roles and is plotting a career patiently as a real actor not based on his looks. It is sad this film will just pass by most move goers as it deserves a place as a cult classic like Donnie Darko. Ironically as surreal as Donnie Darko was and made no sense at times fans and critics loved it. why The strange Ones has been given such ignorant reviews is clearly that the viewer did not have the brain matter to understand the subject matter. I LOVED THIS MOVIE.
Nick (Alex Pettyfer) and Sam, you can call me Jeremiah (James Freedson-Jackson) are traveling away from...? something to do with a fire. We watch them talk, eat, sleep in their car, get a motel room, get their car fixed, and other boring things for 50 or so minutes until we discover what the heck the film and fire were about. And it didn't help. Guide: No swearing or sex. Male butt nudity.
