Los Angeles detective Kate McBain arrives in southern California after a scandal in which she slept with a suspect during an investigation. Paired up with macho detective Keith Rackles, Kate investigates the case of the death of a wealthy female stockbroker who was found in her hotel's pool after falling from her balcony. Cross-checking details with other deaths, Kate uncovers evidence that all the murders were identical, making this the work of a serial killer. It is also discovered that the victims were moonlighting as high-priced call girls. Infiltrating the brothel, Kate is introduced to the only client to sleep with all the victims – Rutherford "Blue" Dresden, a real charmer known for the overwhelming way he treats the girls. As Kate begins to fall in love with Blue, she begins to suspect that A – he could be the killer since his mother was also found dead in a similar fashion or B – he is being set up by the fiancée of one of the murdered girls – none other than Detective Keith Rackles. This made for cable television erotic thriller is actually a knockoff of the classic thriller Basic Instinct, only with the gender roles of the two leads reversed. The film was directed by Robert Angelo, a director who specialised in this sort of film & was produced by star Shannon Tweed, herself known as the queen of softcore erotica around this time.Dead Sexy is an average thriller that has some reasonable love scenes thrown in to market itself to the softcore audience that view this kind of thing or even late shift workers. Most softcore erotica tend to regard plot as the space between unclothed romps, but Dead Sexy manages to make the thriller aspect of the story work to a limited degree. Most of the love scenes are passable enough but the story's thriller element comes out stronger when seen on its own. The final twist ending is a real eye-opener when it comes. As for the acting, Shannon Tweed is excellent as the female detective on the case while John Enos seems a bit miscast in his role as the 'psycho' suspect of the piece.

First off, I want to say that if you're renting this just for the sex scenes, don't, they're not very good. However, this movie did work for me as a thriller. I think that Shannon Tweed is a good actress and it's a shame that she can't get more mainstream movies.Shannon plays a cop investigating a string of call girl murders. All of the women were killed similarly to the way the prime suspect's mother died and all were wearing a particular shade of red lipstick. Oh and by the way that shade of red lipstick was also the mother's shade of lipstick (the lipstick is made by a small company owned by the suspect's family and he recently inherited it). Additionally, the women, including Tweed's character all look like the suspects mother and though he was only 13 at the time his mother died, he was a suspect in her death (it was ruled a suicide). It seems that the prime suspect was molested by his mother for years before her death.Added to the mix is the fact that Tweed's partner has a vendetta against the prime suspect (he was engaged to the first call girl who died and did not submit an interview with the prime suspect to his bosses). The true murderer is not revealed until the very last scene.

"Dead Sexy" is as far as I remember Shannon Tweed's last soft core sex movie. The truth is that the plot is kind of entertaining but the sex scenes truly let me down. It's rumored that Shannon used a body double in her only sex scene which is by far, the worst she has done. It's like a copy of her infamous "Singapore Sling" sex scene but this time, with minimal sleaze or anything. The other women, apart from Shannon, are really hot! Specially Holly Sampson, Mary Shannon, and the always sexy Nancy Vee. Unfortunately, their sex scenes aren't as steamy as expected.Stay away from "Dead Sexy" because if you are looking for sex it will let you down.I really tried to like this one and after the opening sequence which features a sex scene, I thought this was going to be good... sadly, it didn't. Among Tweed's worst if not the worst of them all.

The reason Shannon Tweed no longer appears nude in films is because she no longer looks good nude. The reason for that is simple: she is 43 in this movie (48, almost 49 at this writing) and showing her age. Actually, she looks older than 43. She looks grim, hard, and beat-up. These girls (strippers, soft-core porn workers) apparently don't age well, and Tweed is no exception. The problem isn't that she doesn't appear nude here (I am grateful that she doesn't. One look at her clothed and you know you do not want to see her naked), it's that this is just a bad movie.Tweed is not a good actress and cannot convince us she is a cop. The writing is weak, the characters stereotypes, and the storyline is threadbare. Movies like this are not supposed to be good anyway, but when they try to be, in between sex scenes, it's ludicrous. Stilted dialogue, awkward direction, poor editing, bad acting, this film has them all. There aren't enough sex scenes (with younger, better-looking women than Tweed) to justify renting this.
